Chapter 220
Chapter 220:
She lounged back in her chair, folding her arms across her chest as she regarded me. “You’ve got a lot of nerve, you know that?”
“I’ve been told,” I said, smiling. “So, do we have a deal?”
Her lips curled into a wicked smile. “Alright then. But don’t think for one moment that I trust you, Nathan.”
I chuckled, the sound ringing in the tiny room. “Trust is overrated, don’t you think? As long as we get what we want, that’s all that counts.”
She leaned in closer, her voice lowering to a conspirator’s whisper. “I can get to him. You won’t even see it coming.” And she was right.
I watched the surveillance footage of her with Dominic, a satisfied smile tugging at my lips. She played her part beautifully, weaving herself into his life with a precision that even I hadn’t anticipated. Of course, I did have to intervene a few times, such as taking care of that pesky waiter and erasing the surveillance footage that might have implicated her. But that was all part of the game. Eliza was a useful pawn, and I had no intention of letting her mess things up.
As I sipped my wine, I couldn’t help but compare her to Adelaide. Adelaide had been sloppy, always making mistakes and asking the dumbest questions. Eliza, on the other hand, was cunning, resourceful, and ambitious. She was everything Adelaide wasn’t.
But that didn’t mean I trusted her. Not for a second.
The ping of my phone cut through the quiet hum of the room. I glanced down to find a message from Eliza: “I’ve secured my place in the house.”
I leaned back in my chair, smirked, and took a slow sip of my wine as satisfaction settled in. “Well done, Eliza,” I muttered to myself. The bitch had been so much more resourceful than I ever gave her credit for. She’d managed to insinuate herself into Dominic’s home and life with surprising ease.
I swirled the wine in my glass, watching as the deep red liquid caught the light. “It’s time for the next step,” I said aloud; the words echoed in the empty room.
Raina.

Her name echoed through my mind, an itch I could never scratch. I’d had no contact with her in weeks. She’d left town, my spy informed me, with her grandmother, but where was quite another matter—and damned difficult to locate as well.
I placed the glass down on the table, jaw clenched with silent imprecation. “God damn you,” I muttered under my breath. Raina always one step ahead of me, my fingers grazing nothing as I reached.
They would have been the perfect lever to draw her out. I pictured how fast she’d come running if she thought they were in danger. But Alex had hidden them away too, just like the old woman. That overprotective bastard thought of everything.
“Thorough asshole,” I muttered, the words bitter on my tongue.
But Alex couldn’t protect everyone.
My mind turned to Dominic, the brother who thought he could outplay me. With Eliza firmly planted in his house, I had the leverage I needed. And if Dominic thought he could keep Faith safe, he was sadly mistaken.
I rose, pacing the room as the plan began to form. “If Raina won’t come to me of her own free will,” I mused, “I’ll force her hand.”
Dominic had two weaknesses: his wife and his sister. And now, with Eliza in place, I could exploit both.
I stopped at the window, looking out over the city lights. “Let’s see how much you’re willing to sacrifice, Dominic,” I said, my voice low and menacing. “Your wife or your sister. Let’s see which one matters more.”
The thought filled me with a twisted sense of satisfaction. Raina wouldn’t know what hit her—neither would Alex nor Dominic. I looked back at my phone, typing furiously in a message to one of my guys. It was time to set the wheels in motion. This game was far from over.
