Chapter 173
Tonight, Edward took Janice to an exceptionally upscale restaurant. It was one of the most exclusive spots in Greenfield City and was nearly impossible to book.
Since it was peak dining hours, they ran into several groups of people as they walked in.
"Mr. Moore!" someone called out in surprise.
Another group greeted him as well, "Mr. Moore, you're here too?"
Then, all eyes shifted to the woman holding his hand. The moment they got a clear look at Janice's face, realization dawned.
Edward, as calm as ever, simply said, "My girlfriend."
Girlfriend.
The chairman of Prosper Stitch Group just confirmed it himself.
As soon as the words left his mouth, the others immediately turned to greet Janice.
Some called her "Ms. Smith", while others even greeted her as "Mrs. Moore". She responded with ease, not showing the slightest bit of nervousness. She maintained the perfect facade of composure and grace.
But just as she was handling the small talk, Edward suddenly pulled her into a private dining room and pressed her lightly against the wall.
Before she could react, he murmured, "Janice, they called you 'Mrs. Moore,' and you answered. That means you can't take it back now."
Her eyelashes fluttered before she let out a soft laugh. "I never planned to take it back."
She had never asked for much, just a partner with a sense of responsibility. Money? That was secondary.
Edward kissed her again. But this time, Janice kissed him back. She matched his intensity, making sure he wasn't alone in his desire.
When he finally pulled away, his voice was a murmur against her lips. "You have no idea how much I like you."
That sentence stayed with Janice for a long time, echoing in her mind even after they returned home and went to sleep in separate rooms.
Prosper Stitch Group was back in business after the holiday.
But over at Refined Threads Co., operations had come to a complete halt because all the seamstresses had left.
"This has to be Janice's doing!"
Simon hadn't been detained, but news of his attempted theft was still all over the internet. It was impossible to suppress.
That morning, the other shareholders of Refined Threads Co. barged into his office.
The first to speak was Sabrina Parham. "Simon, we're getting old. We invested in this company because we trusted you and Janice. But look at what you've done!"
Another shareholder, Tabitha Buckley, added, "We stayed out of it when you two had personal conflicts, but this? This is too much."
The youngest shareholder, Britney Atkinson, didn't bother sugarcoating it. "When Janice was here, things never got this messy! We've tried contacting her, but she won't e respond. Simon, what the hell did
you do?"
Simon was completely overwhelmed.
Sabrina sighed. "Look, we're not here to discuss the past. But Refined Threads Co. can't survive like this. Simon, if you can't handle it anymore, it's time to step down."
Tabitha and Britney immediately nodded in agreement.
The truth was, if not for Janice recommending Simon back then, they would have made her chairperson instead.
Who would have thought he'd turn out to be such a disappointment?
Simon snapped, "What's that supposed to mean? You've all been bought off by Janice, haven't you?"
Bought off?noveldrama
Janice hadn't even contacted them!
Sabrina, a no-nonsense businesswoman, had no patience for this kind of talk. Her tone sharpened. "This isn't about
personat grudges. We're here to net
make money. You're incompetent, and it's costing us, so we'll have to find someone else.
"We're too old to deal with this kind of mess, but Janice is still young. If you can't
run this company properly, we'll have her take over."
Her words were met with instant agreement from Tabitha and Britney.

Britney, always blunt, added, "Simon, let's be honest. If it weren't for Janice vouching for you back then and if she hadn't convinced us trust you, we never would have invested so much in Refined Threads Co."
Tabitha let out a bitter chuckle. "Turns out Janice misjudged you, and so did we." Finally, Sabrina made the decision. "Next week, we'll finalize the transition. If you refuse, we'll pull our investments. We won't accept anyone else as chairperson except Janice. Think it over."
The message was clear, the shareholders had already decided to kick Simon out.
After losing so much money and failing to even pay the year-end bonuses, Simon still dared to throw a tantrum.
What do you think?
