Chapter 1695
Chapter 1695:
Errol’s gaze darkened, his words deliberate. He had been cautious around Nola for a long time, maintaining a façade due to their familial ties. If Nola proved loyal to the Happer family and to him, he would treat her fairly. However, if she acted against him, he would not hesitate to remove her—even though she was his granddaughter. After all, Nola had only entered their lives years ago.
“Yes, sir, I will ensure close surveillance on her and prevent any moves against us!” Moshe nodded and respectfully exited the study.
As he walked away, Moshe couldn’t shake the feeling that the leadership of the Happer family was destined for Davenport. He looked forward to his protégé rising as Davenport’s key ally. As for Nola, Moshe was determined to systematically dismantle her advantages, leaving her with no path to success.
After dinner, Rhys and Harlee retired to the study.noveldrama
This marked the fourth consecutive night Rhys had spent alone on the sofa. In the study, they both engaged separately in work and gaming, without disturbing one another.
Having managed most of his new company’s tasks during the day, Rhys spent much of the evening watching Harlee.
As the clock struck midnight, Rhys rose from his chair, loosened his tie with a smirk, and approached Harlee. He leaned down slightly, offering a glimpse of his toned abs beneath his shirt.
“Feeling sleepy?” His voice was soft and enticing. Harlee didn’t pause her game. Glancing up, she caught sight of his physique, her gaze lingering before she looked away. Rhys seemed different tonight, exuding a youthful vigor that belied his age. If it weren’t for his attire, he could easily pass for a college student—perhaps even more youthful than some.
Harlee set her phone aside, reached up to pull him closer by the neck, and smiled teasingly.

“Did you do something different? You look particularly youthful and handsome tonight.”
Her playful tone made Rhys swallow hard, desire evident in his expression. He leaned in closer, his voice deepening to a husky whisper, tinged with an inviting undertone, and said, “Care to make the night more interesting?”
Matching his smile with her own, Harlee considered his proposition, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Just as Rhys moved to intensify the moment, Harlee tilted her head and playfully bit his lower lip, her voice sultry.
“Sounds like a tempting idea.”
Rhys’ pulse raced, his grin broadening. He kissed her passionately, his hand firmly supporting her back, blending dominance with allure.
Their breaths quickened. Rhys playfully nipped at her earlobe and then whispered hoarsely as he nestled against her neck, “You’re irresistible.”
Then, he swept her into his arms, kissing her as he carried her into the next room.
Their breaths mingled, their proximity creating a charged atmosphere.
“I am.”
Harlee’s voice trembled. She smiled, leaned in, and kissed Rhys again—a kiss filled with yearning.
Rhys swiftly shut the door behind them, and they tumbled onto the expansive two-meter-wide bed.
The next morning, in the living room, Patrick, who had just returned from a grueling three days of overtime at the company, sipped his coffee to stay awake while casting curious glances toward Rhys in the kitchen, who was cheerfully preparing breakfast for Harlee. Why did Rhys seem so elated? Hadn’t Harlee banished him to the sofa?
Alina, dressed in a tracksuit after her morning jog, was stretching on the sofa. Aldrich handed her a glass of freshly squeezed apple and tomato juice, his voice smooth and inviting.
“I found the recipe online last night. See if you like it.”
Alina tasted it, and her eyebrows lifted in approval.
