Everyone was on edge, but Fiona just leaned back in her chair, cool as a cucumber.

Erica's family, seeing how confident Fiona seemed, couldn't help but feel a little rattled. They knew they were in the wrong and didn't dare to face her in court. If things went south, they might end up with nothing. Plus, it would be their daughter who'd end up paying the price.

"I'll give you ten minutes to mull it over," Fiona said. "When time's up, I want your answer. If you're still stuck on your position, then sorry, but that urine test report? I can have Allen come in for a test anytime, and your documents won't mean a thing."

With that, Fiona casually crossed her legs and put one foot up on the chair, looking completely at ease. She pulled out her phone and launched a game.

As the game loaded, she glanced at the hospital director and chuckled, "Hey, Director, whose stamp is on this report? Could you get that doctor over here?"noveldrama

"Ms. Fiona," the director replied, "we got word before you arrived that the doctor is off today. We asked him to come in, but he said there's been a family bereavement and he can't make it."

Fiona's fingers danced across the screen as she picked her character and hit confirm. "So he can't make it?" she asked, starting the game and throwing a sidelong glance at Erica's family. "You really buy that lame excuse? Call him and tell him if he's not here in fifteen minutes, he might as well kiss his job at Maple Grove goodbye."

The room went dead silent; even breathing seemed risky. Everyone knew about Fiona's ties to Jackson and the fact that the Woods family funded the hospital. Upset the Woods family, and the hospital could be in big trouble.

Erica's family exchanged nervous glances, thinking about bolting from the room, but the bodyguards had them boxed in tight. They couldn't ese their phones, leaving them stuck.

Meanwhile, Nash watched Fiona with newfound curiosity; he'd never seen her like

this before. This side of Fiona was surprisingly captivating.

He reported everything to Jackson, who, much to Nash's surprise, actually

praised him, saying he had finally done something right.

Fiona wrapped up her game in under ten minutes. Closing her phone, she looked

up with a playful glint in her eyes. "Alright, what's your answer?"

After a tense silence, Erica's mother finally spoke up, "We still say the child is Allen's."

Fiona nodded, already having a pretty good idea of their game plan. After all, people often act out of self-interest.

"Okay, let me take a stab at what you're thinking. You want us to terminate Erica's pregnancy before we hit the courtroom, so we can't do an umbilical cord blood test to prove if the kid is Allen's. Either way, Allen's name is tarnished, right?"
