Upon hearing Ruby's voice, the Adams couple immediately bypassed Keith and Louis, rushing to Ruby. Nancy hugged her tightly and cried, "Ruby, we've missed you so much! How could you stay away for so many years?"

Ruby looked at her expressionlessly, "You don't need to pretend to be a loving mother in front of me. I haven't forgotten how you left me to die, oppressed me, and forced me to have an abortion."

Nancy's mouth twitched, and she wiped her tears, "Ruby, I did it for your own good. You were pregnant out of wedlock and wanted to keep the bastard. How would you manage in the future?"

"Ethan is not a bastard. I won't let you call him that," Ruby said sternly.

Nancy's feigned sadness completely disappeared. She glared at Ruby hatefully, "I raised you all these years, and this is how you repay us by ruining our reputation?"

Ruby's face turned red with anger, "If you think I'm such a disgrace, why are you here? Please leave. I don't want to see you."

Charles was very angry, "Leave? Do you know how chaotic the Adams family is right now? We raised you, and you think you can just walk away from that?"

Ruby felt disheartened, "You're not here to bring me back to the Adams family. You just want to use me, right?"

Phoebe, standing nearby, felt sorry for Ruby after hearing the Adams couple's words. No wonder Ruby had such a twisted personality before.

Growing up in such a family, it was hard not to be affected.

Charles said, "Yes, the Walker Family has taken a liking to you. If you marry into their family, they will help the Adams Group through this difficult time. If you have any sense of gratitude, you'll marry without protest."

Ruby sneered, "I remember you once said that the Adams family no longer had a person named Ruby."

"That was then, this is now. Ruby, if you marry into the Walker Family, we won't bother you anymore, and we can call it even," Nancy said.

Ruby turned her back, "I won't marry. Give up. Keith, Louis, see them out."

With that, she turned and walked towards the villa.

Charles wanted to chase after her but was stopped by Keith. Charles, furious, shouted, "Ruby, we raised you, and you think you can just walk away? If the Adams family falls, we'll drag you down to hell with us."

Ruby's back stiffened. After a long time, she turned around, her eyes red, "Three years ago, you already pushed me into hell. Don't worry, since we're family, we'll go to hell together."

The Adams couple was stunned by her words and left in disgrace.

Phoebe returned to the villa, not seeing Ruby but finding Evelyn in the kitchen, secretly wiping her tears.

"Why are you crying?"

Evelyn glared at her, "You wouldn't understand. You're a heartless person."

Phoebe felt wronged, "How am I heartless? I know why you're crying. Ruby is indeed pitiful. Her parents treat her like a tool, oppressing her when they think she's lost her dignity, and now they want to use her to help the Adams Group."

"Just hearing her story makes my heart ache. How could her parents be so heartless to her?" Evelyn wiped her tears.

Phoebe remained silent.

Sometimes, the wealthier people were, the less they valued family. They only saw benefits.

Coming out of the kitchen, Theodore was leaning against the entrance, glancing at her, "Aren't you going out? You'll be late."

Phoebe glanced upstairs, sighed, and walked towards the entrance, "Let's go to the company first. We'll talk later."

The two walked out together.

Sitting in the back seat of the car, Phoebe pondered the keyword Nancy had mentioned, "Who is the Walker Family?"

Theodore had heard of them, "I had Lawton look into it."

As they spoke, Lawton called Theodore back. Theodore put the phone on speaker, and Lawton's voice filled the car.

"Mr. Reynolds, the Walker Family's eldest son used to mess around a lot. He got involved with the wrong people and ended up with a crippled leg and issues with his sexual function. As he's getting older, the family wants to find him a wife to quell the rumors."

Phoebe frowned. Were the Adamses trying to throw Ruby under the bus?

"It's said that he's violent and almost beat his ex-wife to death during their divorce. You should be cautious with such a person."

After hanging up, Phoebe remained silent for a long time.

"How could they do this to Ruby? Even wild animals don't harm their own offspring." Phoebe said indignantly, feeling more and more sympathetic towards Ruby.

How could she have such selfish and malicious parents?

Theodore looked at her flushed face, his gaze softening, "You used to dislike her. Why

are you willing to let her move in with you now?"

"That was before. I don't dislike her anymore," Phoebe said.

Theodore raised an eyebrow, "Because of sympathy?"noveldrama

Phoebe shook her head, "No, because of Donovan. She gave birth to Ethan for Donovan. Her feelings for Donovan make up for everything she did to me before."

Theodore's lips pressed into a thin line. After a long silence, he spoke, "Ruby had Ethan because of Donovan. What about you? Why did you decide to have the triplets?"

Phoebe was at a loss for words.

How was she supposed to explain that?

Theodore stared at her, "Phoebe, I'm waiting for your answer. Aren't you going to explain?"

Phoebe felt troubled. Under Theodore's sharp gaze, she said, "The doctor told me that if I aborted them, I would never be able to be a mother again."

She paused, "At that time, we had just divorced. I thought we wouldn't have any more interactions in the future. If I had the kids with me, my life wouldn't be lonely." Theodore narrowed his eyes, "So having them had nothing to do with their father?"

"Of course not." She hadn't even seen the man's face. How could she have wanted to have the children because of him?

But later, seeing Hubert, Boris, and Noomi's looks, she thought the man must have been quite handsome.

Theodore pressed his lips tightly and said nothing more.

The car fell silent. Phoebe glanced at him secretly, unable to read his expression, so she turned to look out the window.

The morning drama at the Ziegler Villa hadn't escaped Donovan's notice. In his study,

he stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Ruby walk in listlessly.

He frowned and turned to leave the room.

At the top of the stairs, he saw Ruby entering. From his vantage point, he noticed her

eyes were swollen and puffy.

He slowly descended the stairs, "What's wrong? Didn't sleep well last night?"
