Tessa's dark eyes gleamed with an icy light as she retorted, "I'm afraid the one courting death is you."

Tessa sidestepped his attack and was just about to retaliate when someone got there first.

It happened so suddenly. Before she could do anything, a foot had shot out from the crowd, landing a harsh kick to Bruno's abdomen, sending him flying.

The crowd gasped in astonishment.

Those from Sudmere's upper crust society could hardly believe their eyes. Some even clasped their hands over their lips to stop themselves from shrieking in shock.

Who would dare to do something so bold?

That person actually sent Bruno flying in front of so many people!

The man had sharp yet aristocratic features. Not only was he striking in looks, but he was also tall and well-proportioned. He exuded a chill that screamed murder as he glared at Bruno ferociously. The look he had on his face easily sent chills down everyone's spine.

As the crowd got bigger, those who recognized Stephen and Tessa had come to take a look at the fuss.

Someone suddenly said in confusion, "Isn't that Mr. Jacobson and Ms. Yates? What's going on here?"

"Holy shit. Are you serious? That guy in black is Mr. Jacobson? Are we talking about the same Jacobson?" a person demanded.

The confused voice replied, "Well, yeah. I'm talking about Mr. Stephen Jacobson of Rivertown. He's the one who just kicked Bruno to the ground. He's also the sole heir to Jacobson Corporation. The gorgeous woman beside him is his former fiancée, Ms. Tessa Yates of Rivertown."

The rest of his sentence died in his throat the minute he got a better look at Stephen's face.

In fact, his expression changed instantaneously. The terrifying scowl on his face was replaced with a smile that wouldn't look odd on a sycophant's face. "Mr. Jacobson, why are you here?"

He had only seen Stephen twice in his lifetime.
