Chapter 1022: Hayden’s Engagement
When Jared stepped out of his office, the tension in his eyes had completely vanished, replaced by an uncontrollable joy.
Seeing her uncle in such high spirits, Tina couldn't help but smile as well.
Finally, no more medication.
Back at home, Jared noticed a beautifully wrapped box left outside their door. At first, he thought Marie had sent it, but upon closer inspection, it didn't seem like her style.noveldrama
Tina suddenly remembered Hayden's call from earlier. Before Jared could open it, she casually remarked, "It's from Hayden."
Jared picked up the box and brought it inside without thinking much of it.
The next morning, Tina suddenly realized they were attending an engagement party that day. She opened the box from Hayden, and her expression froze.
Oh, Hayden.
He really outdid himself this time.
The dress inside was a bold traditional red gown, flamboyant to the point of absurdity. It wasn't just outdated-it was downright hideous.
Jared, already dressed in a sleek black suit that highlighted his striking good looks, noticed Tina standing there in shock. Following her gaze, he saw the dress.
It was a loud red gown with exaggerated traditional designs.
It wasn't just unattractive-it was extremely unattractive.
His brows furrowed slightly. "Hayden's doing?"
Tina didn't respond, but her expression said it all.
Who else could it be? Hayden's baffling taste was unmatched in this world.
Jared pulled out his phone. "I'll have Nathan bring over another dress." "No need."
Tina grabbed a pair of scissors and took the dress into the bedroom.
When she emerged, she had transformed the monstrosity into something entirely different.
Gone were the excessive embellishments. She had shortened the hem to just above the knees, removed the sleeves, and trimmed the neckline, leaving only a simple fastening at the collar.
With her impeccable figure, the revamped red dress looked stunning on Tina, fresh and modern.
Jared stared, momentarily stunned.
After her pregnancy, Tina seemed to carry an indescribable allure, one that captured attention effortlessly.
Tina immediately noticed the admiration-and a trace of restraint-in her uncle's eyes.
She stepped closer, placing her hand on his black suit jacket and slowly sliding it up to adjust his tie. Pulling him slightly forward, she smiled mischievously. "Uncle, do I look good?"
Jared's eyes flickered. He placed a steadying hand around her waist, his voice low and magnetic. "Tina, you're always the most beautiful."
Before Tina could respond, Jared leaned in and kissed her deeply. She responded without hesitation.
What started as a simple kiss quickly became something far more heated.
Jared finally understood the meaning of craving something you couldn't get enough
of.
After some time apart, neither of them could hold back.
When Jared finally pulled back, he exhaled quietly, his restraint evident.
Tina looked at him, her eyes hazy and filled with frustration, like a child who could see their favorite treat but wasn't allowed to taste it.
Her expression made Jared tense up even more. His grip on her waist tightened as he murmured, "Tina, the doctor said... one more month."
Tina blinked, belatedly realizing what he meant.
Had Uncle seriously started counting down the days?
The capital's most luxurious hotel had been fully booked for the day.
Two prominent families were joining forces, and every notable figure in the city was in attendance.
When Tina and Jared arrived, Hayden was already standing at the entrance, dressed in a pristine white suit, greeting guests with a grin so wide it nearly reached his ears.
The moment he spotted them, he rushed over to open the car door. "Serena, Jared, you're here!"
Tina gave him a blank look. The words she wanted to say were eventually swallowed, leaving only a curt "Mm."
If it weren't for the fact that it was his big day, she would've made sure he reflected thoroughly on his sense of style.
Jared, noticing Hayden's radiant demeanor, helped Tina out of the car and teased, "Congratulations. Looks like your legs have fully recovered?"
Hayden playfully jumped twice. "They've been fine for ages."
His eyes lit up when he caught sight of the red dress peeking out from under Tina's coat. "Serena, I knew I had great taste! Paula didn't agree with me, but now I can prove her wrong!"
Tina remained silent.
Fine. She'd let this slide for Paula's sake.
Inside the grand hall, the couple was immediately surrounded by members of various families.
At their wedding, Jared and Tina had been elusive, leaving many guests disappointed. Now that they had a chance to interact, no one wanted to miss it.
Jared handled the crowd effortlessly, allowing Tina a chance to slip away and find her mentor.
Fortunately, Master Tam wasn't hard to locate.
As the star of the day, he was seated at the most prominent spot in the room, dressed
in a bright red suit that matched his stark white hair, which had been neatly tied up.
When Tina approached, her eyelid twitched.
Her mentor certainly knew how to make an impression.
Though, strangely, the outfit suited him in a way she couldn't quite put her finger on.
As she got closer, she overheard Jimmy muttering under his breath, "Master, no offense, but today's a big day for Hayden. Did you really have to dress like some kind of... supernatural spirit?"
"Pfft!"
The others couldn't hold back their laughter. Some coughed to cover it up, while others avoided making eye contact with Master Tam altogether, fearing they'd burst out laughing again.
Master Tam, already uncomfortable in the flashy outfit, grew even more annoyed upon hearing this.
If not for the priceless treasure that had come with the suit, he wouldn't have worn it at
all.
But that was a secret he couldn't let his disciples know about.
"You've got some nerve, calling your master a spirit. Explain yourself-what makes me look like one?"

In the uneasy quiet, a cool voice suddenly broke through.
"He's right. You do look the part."
The group immediately perked up at the sound of the voice.
Philip, sitting closest to Tina, grinned as he stood to offer her his seat. "Serena, you're here. Have a seat."
Tristan glared at him. "Philip, do you have no sense of decorum? Serena's status deserves a higher seat, not yours."
Damian chimed in, "Exactly. Who do you think you are, trying to sit next to her?"
Before Wesley could speak, Dexter, who had been seated beside Master Tam, suddenly stood up. "Enough. Stop arguing."
Bowing respectfully to Master Tam, he said, "Master, I'll check on Hayden. Serena can keep you company."
Master Tam nodded.
He had been meaning to have a word with that mischievous girl anyway.
Dexter smiled at Tina. "Serena, over here."
Tina acknowledged him and walked over to sit beside her mentor.
The others could only watch in silence.
All that effort, and someone else ended up benefiting.
"Brat..."
Master Tam's lips twitched into a brief smile, but it quickly faded when he noticed
Tina's altered dress.
"Wait a minute!"
He squinted at her. "Didn't Hayden say our outfits were identical? Why does yours look
so much better than mine?"
The disciples nearly choked trying to suppress their laughter.
Tina remained silent.
If she had worn her mentor's version of the outfit, the consequences would've been
disastrous.
