Maid for the Mafia

They're In Danger

**RUBY**

"Well?" I snap at Mickey as he hangs up his phone. My arms are becoming admittedly more tired from having held Alex and Damien at gunpoint for the last two hours and as much as I hate to deny Alex the pleasure of traveling into the stars courtesy of a one-way missile, it's beginning to look like I'll have to save it for another day.

That's alright. That's okay. I'll get him in his sleep and I'll do it myself. It'll be infinitely more fun anyhow, and... that way I can make sure to record every little second of his pleasure.

I'll make him a tape.

"He's still not picking up," Mickey says angrily. "This would be so much easier if you'd only let me go upstairs and-"

"No!" I snap. "You won't be heading anywhere without me."

Swinging his arm like he just might throw his phone into the wall, Mickey yells, "Fuck!" I stop his insanity with a whistle. "What?" Mickey barks, not even phased that I have his cousin and Damien under my barrel.

"He left," I inform him, knowing without a doubt that I speak the truth. "He went after her."

"How?" Mickey chirps, stretching his hands out as if to say 'in what'.

"The way most normal people get around, Mick. He probably took a cab. Or a plane. Or both."

Santos driver snickers and I glance over at him. The man was handsome once, but now... I can't even tell if he's smiling because his face is so fucking swollen. My eyes glaze over the arms on the dining table that I had the boys relinquish to me about an hour ago.

"Jesus Christ," I hiss. "If I was a more confident woman, I'd have you pick up one of those nine's and pistol whip Alex until the both of you were twins, but I know Alex and gun or not. He's got at least nine or ten knives on him. You'd be dead in under a minute." Alex smirks, looking amused for the first time since this started."Yet *you're* still alive," Alex comments. "That should tell you something."

I snort. "It does. It says 'I'm not a fucking driver, I'm a killer'." But even so, I finally lower my arms and toss the guns on the table. The men across from me release a collective breath, Damien immediately collapsing in an armchair in the corner and Alex lighting up another cigar. I slap my hands on the table and glare at Mickey. "Track him."noveldrama

Mickey chuckles, "I can't track him. He's not stupid enough to let me track him." "Fuck," I hiss, tapping my nails on the table as I try and figure out my next steps. Santos *wants* me to come after him. He will have left clues. Something, Somewhere. But where? And what if Tiny already found them?

Suddenly, I grab the driver's phone. "Lock code?" I snap.

"Zero, one, five, nine, six, six. But he won't answer you until he knows you're nearby."

I grin. "I'm not calling him." I slide the phone to Mickey. "Call that little fuck."

Mickey nods, picking up the phone and doing as told. I watch as he listens intently, pacing as the blood in my veins starts to boil over.

Footsteps sound coming down the stairs at the very same time that Mickey says, "Tiny!"

I spin around, ignoring Mickey's angry voice as he grills his bodyguard on the phone. I pick up one of the pistols and creep up to the doorway just as a thick, frightened looking female wanders in our direction.

"Who the fuck are you?" I snap.

The girl flinches, wrapping her arms around herself and gazing around as if lost. "Me?"

"Yes, you bitch. What's your name?"

She steps closer. "Ana. Ana Romano."

I raise my gun. "Well how fortunate, come and have a seat." This is that pig fuck Paul's daughter. How did I get so lucky?

"What's going on?" She squeals, much like a pig if I do say so myself.

"What's going on is your daddy is a sorry little rapist fuck and you're going to bring him to me,” I say, glaring at her.

Her eyes widen and every other person in the room clears their throat as if they have something much more interesting they'd like to do.

"Um... Ruby..." Mickey interjects, but I ignore him, guiding Miss Romano into the room with the tip of my gun.

"Sit piggy," I say and she does.

"Ruby!" Damien snarls. "She's not part of this. She's innocent."

"It's true!" She exclaims. "I only came down for breakfast. Where's Miss Romany?"

I laugh as Alex says, "Well, if that isn;t the million dollar question."

"New Zealand," Mickey says, the phone but an inch from his ear.

"New fucking ZEALAND?" I screech. "Jesus Christ!" Then I fix my gaze back on Ana. "Your daddy. Call him."

"I haven't seen my father in weeks,” she whines, tearing up. "Why? What has he done now?"

I grin, allowing my eyes to flash with malice."Your daddy is a fucking pig," i tell her.

"And I'm going to gut him like one. So I need you to call him."

"AHEM!" Mickey grumbles and I finally give him my attention.

"What Scavo?"

He gestures towards his throat in a clear signal for me to quit. My eyes go wide.

"Oh..." I say in sudden understanding. "Who?"

Mickey winks, flashing me a self indulgent smile.

"Well," I say. "I guess you've got one foot out of the shit bucket. You might get to walk after all."

Mickey rolls his eyes then flips me off. "It was my pleasure."

"Huh," I say, my spirit lightening for the first time since I awoke in that godforsaken hospital bed. "And Enzo?"

Damien raises his hand and I cock an eyebrow. "Alex and I took that honor together."

I smile. "Aww. Just like lovers should," I tease. "Bruno?" I ask finally, my eyes zeroing in on Alex, knowing all about his contracts and all about how he works. So I'm not at all surprised when he shakes his head in confusion. I laugh, "You see, now that's why you're gonna get fucked. You don't love her. And I better never hear you lie to me again. If I were you, I'd lay off the booze for a while. Because the very moment you get caught slipping, Alex, I promise you, that ass is mine. I'll do you my fucking self and roll tape on every social media channel I can think of."

Mickey snickers.

"It wasn't Bruno, Ruby. It was Antony."

My blood pressure spikes. "What? Antonio said it was Bruno."

The three of them shake their heads, all of them saying no.

Shit! "How many of the district bosses were there that night, Alex? Besides, Paul?" I ask, watching as shock rolls over his features. "There's a reason Santos has had you from the very beginning. He's had dealing with one of the bosses. So I ask you again. How many men were here that night?"

Alex growls, "A couple. Paul and Antony's father Berto."

My blood runs cold. "Antony has dealings with Antonio's cousin. They're partners!"

Alex curses, "Since when do you call him Antonio?"

I ignore him. "Santos' cousin Ruiz *hates* Antonio for never avenging his brother."

Alex snarls, "I just killed Ruiz's sister the other night. She's dead."

I shake my head, true fear climbing up my body. "Berto must have lied to him..."

"Orrr," Alex says happily. "Santos lied to YOU."

But I know better. They're in danger. Both of them. "We need a goddamned plane!"

"The only one we have use of belongs to the bosses," Mickey gripes. "Actually!" Ana's sweet little voice chimes like an angel's grin. "I have one."
