Maid for the Mafia

UNIDENTIFIED MANAGER

**ALEX**

Taking off my jacket a block away from my gates I attach the silencer to my piece and then hit the intercom button, barely aware of Mickey loading his weapon on my right. "Vincenzo, pull over here and get out. I'll drive up the rest of the way."

Mickey casts me a sharp edged look, one that says 'What the fuck are you doing now?', but I ignore it.

My goal is to be absolutely certain that the car is parked when I do what I do next and the only way to achieve that is to let Vincenzo believe that he has to step out.

The moment I feel the shift in gears, I slide forward, wrap the barrel of my gun in my jacket sleeve so that my left hand closes over it, then I press the tip flat against the bulletproof glass, directly behind Vincezo's head, and hold on for dear life and I pull the trigger three times in rapid succession.noveldrama

It sounds like shooting a hollow point through a wine glass, sharp and intentional. Crisp, clean, and deadly. Ripping my hand free of the heated barrel, I smile when I see the divider didn't so much as crack, however there is a bullet sized hole where I placed my gun and silence on the other side.

"You're fucking lucky that little stunt didn't backfire," Mickey hisses.

I grin, "I knew it was going to take more than one. So I gave it three."

"I didn't know you intended to take him out too," Mickey commented.

"The driver is always the worst rat," I grumble, tossing my jacket into the seat and staring at my cousin. "Or did you not notice how long it took him to get us here. It's after midnight."

"I would argue that Bruno is the exception to that rule," my cousin interjects.

"Little Bruno is not only a driver, he is also a killer. He knows fucking better." I meet Mickey's eyes and gesture to his door. "You go first. I'll give you a five minute head start. There are veryatékeepershirtler fortaroritter orny way we ie yoning treache to take them out is if they don't see you coming. I'll drive up and take out the first two, but the third will be on me before I can hit him, so you'll have to attack the very moment I start shooting. Do I need to explain which ones I'll be aiming for?"

Mickey simply flips me off and then gets out of the vehicle.

I smile to myself, ignoring the sudden emptiness I feel inside when I realize that thirty dead men on my grounds will not erase all the mistakes I have made in the past two months. My angel will still have been taken and Ruby will soon be out for my blood, no matter how many men I kill in her cousin's honor.

That is, if she is in fact alive, which something inside tells me, she is.

"Fuck," I growl at myself as I exit the back of the vehicle and step toward the front. This is about to be one hell of a shit show. I will have thirty heads of lettuce to chop up and either feed to the pigs or the incinerator. Likely both. Quite the task for one man and his cousin.

*We'll hold them in the box. We won't worry about them until I find my angel.* Still it's going to take an extremely expensive cleaning crew to deal with the forensics.

I send out a group text to all my maid staff from the special thread that they all are aware of, yet have never had a message from. The entire lot of them know about its existence and upon hiring are given a burner phone specifically for one thing - emergencies just like this one. They are good girls and shouldn't need to be replaced, so it's best if they see none of what is about to happen.

*UNIDENTIFIED MANAGER: You all have five minutes to be in your rooms. Leave all tasks as they are. Speak to no one and say nothing. Keep your mouths shut and your doors locked. Anyone left wandering will have a very long night.*

It would actually be a very short night, but I see no need to scare them. (wink, wink)

Once I see the message has been delivered, I open the driver's side door. Shoving good old Vincenzo over to the right side of the car is a touch more difficult than I anticipated and by the time I'm finished it's been six minutes, not five.

Every minute counts in this game, but I don't let it deter me.

The windshield is still intact, Vincenzo's thick skull having swallowed the three bullets greedily, and for that I am grateful. The men at my gate will be none the wiser when I roll up. However, my jacket is now wet with that fucker's blood and I crack him in the head with my gun as I drive away from the curb.

My windows are so black it would take a cat scan to see whose inside, so I know these men will assume it's Vincenzo when my vehicle rolls up, and not me preparing to kill them.

Hey there! Just a friendly reminder that if you're not reading this book on nel5s.com, you might be missing out on the complete story. Head over there to dive into the next chapter-it's all free!

Creeping toward my manor, the wrought iron gate opens and I am stopped by Luca which gives me pause. Luca's been with me for a long time. Since before my father died, and he is *never* on front gate duty. He is back gate duty. Always.

*He's not part of this.*

*Fuck. Someone assigned him here.*

*Which probably means they wanted the back clear.*

*The tunnel. The woods. The security system.*

*I'm going to have to keep at least one man alive to torture information from and it is going to be the new guy assigned to the back gate.*

Swift change of plan then. Fine. I will just have to trust that in Luca's twenty plus years

in the field, he has learned something more than how I like my coffee.

When the car rolls to a stop, I hit the window button, lowering it just enough to accommodate my weapon. I meet Luca's surprised eyes and say, "Down."

Then I shoot the fucker behind him before he even has a chance to lift his gun. And it begins.
