Chapter 483 Are You Just Trying to Make Me Angry?
Cormac was terrified when he heard that Stellan had been taken away by Ambrose. When the police told him that Stellan had been sent to the hospital, he rushed over in a panic.
Cormac asked, "How's Galatea?"
"She's fine," Alaric said, his voice trembling slightly. "The doctor said she was just frightened and that a good night's sleep would help."
"That's good." Cormac quickly asked again, "What about Ambrose? Has he been arrested?"
Cormac had only asked the police about Stellan earlier and knew nothing about Ambrose's situation.
Alaric asked, "Ambrose is dead."
"Really?" Cormac was shocked.
Ambrose had several lives on his hands, and if caught, he would definitely face the death penalty. Cormac thought Neil would capture him and let the law take its course. He didn't expect Ambrose to be dead already.
"He got what he deserved!" Although Cormac was shocked, he felt that Ambrose, with all his crimes, deserved his fate. "As long as Galatea is unharmed, that's all that matters."
"It's fine now. You should go home. I need some time alone," Alaric said.
His mind was in turmoil, and he didn't want to think or talk to anyone. He just wanted to be alone.noveldrama
"Alright," Cormac responded, "Call me anytime if you need anything."
After saying this, Cormac glanced worriedly at Alaric, then at Stellan, who was still asleep in the hospital bed, and turned to leave.
The surroundings quieted down again, and Alaric sat alone in the hallway outside the hospital room with mixed feelings.
Though she was asleep, her slumber was far from peaceful. As soon as she had any awareness, the image that surfaced was of Ambrose collapsing after being shot. She had never imagined that one day, Ambrose, whom she had both loved and hated, could die so vividly in front of her.
In her dream, it was as if time had rewound. Neil was pointing a gun at them, and Stellan screamed in terror. "No, don't shoot!"
Then she suddenly opened her eyes. Besides the lingering echo of gunshots, all she could hear was her own rough breathing.
Was it only a nightmare? No, it wasn't a dream; it had really happened. Ambrose had been shot dead right in front of her.
Before he died, Ambrose had even given her something. She quickly opened her hand to find a small USB drive.
Even though she had been unconscious, she had been clutching it tightly. The USB drive was warm from being held in her hand.
Hearing a sound outside the door, Stellan quickly clenched her hand again, still holding the USB drive tightly.
The person who came in was Alaric. During the hours she was unconscious, Alaric had been sitting on a bench outside the hospital room.
"You're awake?" Alaric asked softly when he saw Stellan awake.
"Yes," Stellan nodded.
Looking at Alaric, she could see how haggard he looked. She knew how worried he had been since she went missing.
Alaric asked, "How do you feel now?"
Stellan replied, "Alright."
Alaric remained silent.
Because Alaric didn't respond, the atmosphere in the room felt oppressive. Stellan could sense him restraining himself.
Then a police officer knocked and entered, politely saying, "Regarding the kidnapping of Mrs. Marigold Knight, we need to take a statement from Mrs. Knight. Please cooperate."
"Can't you see my wife is hospitalized?" Alaric's suppressed anger erupted at the police. "Why is it so urgent to take a statement?"
One officer was about to say something but was stopped by another. "It's not urgent. Let Mrs. Knight rest first."
After saying this, the officer pulled the other one out of the room and closed the door behind them.
Because Alaric had just lashed out at the police, Stellan knew that his anger wasn't really directed at them but at himself.
Stellan said, "I'm sorry, Alaric..."
She knew she had been foolish this time, and Alaric had every right to be angry.
"Get some rest first. We'll talk when you're better. I need to go to the police station," Alaric said, about to leave, when Stellan called out to him, "I know you're very angry. If you're upset, just say it."
Stellan had just woken up from a coma, and Alaric was trying hard to suppress his feelings and not say anything. But when Stellan said that, he couldn't hold back.
Alaric looked at Stellan and questioned, "If you just made me angry, I'd be mad for a day or two, and then I'd get over it."
"But is this just about being angry? Do you know how scared I was when I found out Ambrose had taken you? What if he had taken you out of the country? The world is so big; where would I find you?"
"What if he had hurt you? What if you had died? Did you think about any of that? Galatea, do you even know what you were doing?"
"Even if you didn't know it was Ambrose, why did you go looking for Tommy? How many times have I told you to stay far away from Tommy? Why didn't you listen? Why did you go looking for him?"
After Stellan went missing, Alaric had checked all the surveillance footage. He initially thought Ambrose had forcibly taken her when he had nowhere else to hide.
But the surveillance showed that Stellan had gone there on her own. She had gone to Far East International on her own, looking for "Tommy," and had left the company with him.
When Alaric saw this, he was furious as Alaric could have been avoided encountering danger. He thought he had covered all bases as he had assigned her a driver and bodyguards. However, Stellan had walked right into Tommy's hands. Alaric was genuinely at a loss for words.
Stellan said, "Because Josep called me, saying Tommy still hadn't contacted him, so he asked me to..."
"You went because of a call from Josep?" Alaric found it absurd. "I already told you last time that I would handle Tommy"
Alaric added, 'And I did. Whether they contact each other or not is their business. What does it have to do with us?'
"When Josep called you to contact Tommy again, why didn't you call me? Why did you act on your own?"
"You knew that Far East International not only had Tommy but also Ambrose. Why did you still go? How could you dare to go?"
Stellan didn't know how to answer Alaric's series of questions.
Her silence only made Alaric more frustrated, and he couldn't help but raise his voice, "Answer me! Speak!"
Alaric's shout startled Stellan.
What do you think?
