Mommy,We Got a Husband

Chapter 488 If This Continues, the Marriage Will Fall Apart

"Can't you ask that yourself?" Cormac retorted directly to Alaric's question.

Actually, Alaric didn't need to ask. From Stellan's demeanor earlier, it was clear she didn't want to talk to him. And he didn't know what attitude to take when approaching her.

"You guys go have breakfast; I'm heading to the study." Alaric said as he started to go upstairs. Cormac quickly asked, "You're not eating?"

"I already ate." Alaric replied and went into the study.

Cormac glanced at Stellan in the kitchen, then at Alaric who had entered the study, and sighed helplessly. Were Stellan and Alaric planning to engage in a cold war?

Cormac was about to go to the bedroom to call Rowena when Alaric came out of the study and asked, "Who touched my computer?"

Only he used that computer; Stellan never did, and the servants wouldn't dare.

"Galatea did," Cormac answered. "You guys are so particular about your computers? What's so surprising about Galatea using yours?"noveldrama

Alaric couldn't be bothered to explain to Cormac.

"By the way, there's a major discovery I haven't told you." Cormac quickly went into the study and showed Alaric the video on the USB drive.

After watching it, Alaric was also shocked. With this call record and video, they could definitely reopen the case.

Just then, there was a knock on the study door. Stellan's voice came softly from outside, "Cormac, it's time to eat."

Hearing this, Cormac glanced at Alaric. It seemed Stellan and Alaric were indeed having a cold war.

"Coming," Cormac replied quickly, then whispered to Alaric, "Aren't you experienced in apologizing? Just coax her a bit; Galatea isn't hard to please."

"I'm not going," Alaric replied bluntly.

In the past, when he made Stellan angry, he could apologize proactively. But this time, as she said, it wasn't something that could be resolved with a simple apology.

Start you warntitrude?? Continenten onddwar??"Cormac washeany exasperaîter "If your marriage keeps going like this, you both might end up divorcing."

Alaric said impatiently, "Shut your mouth and go eat!"

Comac said, "Can't be bothered with you."Then he left the study.

Sitting in front of the computer, Alaric watched the video again and then looked at the icons for Far East International and Nexus Innovations surveillance.

He knew Stellan must have seen it. But after seeing it, would she think he didn't trust her and was monitoring her? Should he explain? Tell her it was because he was still in treatment and didn't want to upset her, so he didn't tell her at that time. But in this atmosphere, how could he proactively explain?

Alaric thought, 'Forget it, I better handle the important matters first.'

Alaric unplugged the USB drive from the computer and left the study. Downstairs, he saw Cormac, Stellan, and Rowena eating in the dining room.

"Mr. Knight," Rowena asked as she saw Alaric coming down, "Aren't you joining us for breakfast?"

"No, I've already eaten," Alaric replied, then looked at Stellan and had to say, "Galatea, I'm taking this USB drive to Neil. We should be able to reopen the case soon."

"No need," Stellan said. "I'll take it to Officer Neil later. You should rest at home."

"You should rest at home. I'll handle this," Alaric said. Seeing Stellan's doubtful look, he then quickly added, "If you trust me to handle it."

With Alaric saying that, how could Stellan say she didn't trust him?

Stellan said, "Alright, thank you."

"I'll take care of this. I'll be busy for the next couple of days, so take care of yourself." Alaric said and left.

Stellan nodded. "Okay."

After hearing Stellan and Alaric's conversation, Cormac and Rowena exchanged glances. Was this how normal couples talked? Of course, it was normal for couples to argue, so Cormac and Rowena didn't say much.

"Rowena," Stellan said, seeking Rowena's opinion, "Can you stay with me for a couple of days?"

Previously, she longed for solitude, but witnessing Ambrose being shot dead right before her eyes and watching the video of Brennan's fall filled her with dread, especially as night approached.

"Of course," Rowena agreed readily. "Since I got pregnant, Cormac hasn't done anything but take care of me. If I stay with you, he can do his own things."

"That's great, Galatea. You're a doctor, so I'm more at ease with Rowena staying with you," Cormac said quickly. "Rowena, stay with Galatea. I'll do some market research these next couple of days."

Rowena wanted to start her own music training school, and Cormac was unfamiliar with that field, so he needed to do some research.

Alaric took the USB drive to the police station to find Neil. He felt a bit remorseful about his behavior towards Neil the previous day.

Alaric apologized, "Neil, I was in a bad mood yesterday and spoke harshly. Don't take it to heart."

Neil said, patting Alaric's shoulder. "With your wife kidnapped and her fate unknown, it's undertstandble that you are in a bad mood."

Thinking about Alaric's outburst from the moment he learned of Stellan's disappearance until yesterday, Neil chuckled and said, "I believe you truly love Stellan. You were so anxious that when you barged in to question Denny, it took two of my subordinates to hold you back."

Alaric could only give a wry smile at Neil's teasing. He was indeed frantic. Stellan had been kidnapped before, but that time he knew where she was from the start.

This time was different. Tommy, posing as Ambrose, had successfully bought almost a whole day of time from the police. During that time, Alaric was genuinely afraid Ambrose would take Stellan away, and he would never find her again. Alaric still didn't stay calm.

"Alright, let's get to business." Alaric handed the USB drive to Neil. "This was given to Galatea by Ambrose before he died. The contents prove that the Storm family was framed."

"Really?" Neil was excited to hear this and quickly checked the contents of the USB drive.

After watching it, Neil was genuinely happy. "This is great. I didn't expect Ambrose to leave evidence."

Alaric didn't expect it either. It was probably the only good thing Ambrose had done. "So, what are you thinking? Are you going to apply to reopen the Storm family case?" Neil asked. "Last time it was halted because of that threatening letter. Now with evidence in hand, reopening it will be effortless. But once it's reopened, there's no turning back. Those people will come after you for real."
