Chapter 39:

Just as she thought it, Wayne replied, “Love and companionship.”

Nora was speechless.

Wayne continued. “Even though he left us early, he’s paved the way for you. He may not be around anymore, but his heart has always been with you.”

Nora asked, “Have the Grays shown any interest in buying the company?”

Wayne shook his head, however. “No, they don’t.”

Pete said, “Hide, Cherry. Dad’s gone down to get Mom.”

Cherry darted into the stairwell. And sure enough, she saw her handsome dad coming out of the elevator. When she reached his suite and saw that the door was open, she went straight in.

As soon as he entered, Chester hurried to lock the doors with a huge metal padlock.

Then he slipped into the stairwell and asked, “Did you make them drink what I gave you?”

Cherry replied, “Yes, he drank it! I put it in his glass of water.”

Pete also replied, “The tyrant drank it too.”

Chester then said, “Perfect! Cherry, your mission now is to keep Mrs. Lewis from coming back. Things will definitely heat up between your father and mother tonight!”

Cherry asked suspiciously, “What kind of drugs did you give Mom?”
