"What is it?" Morris asked.

Nathalie's long lashes fluttered, a hint of vulnerability in her eyes. "That day, I saw you huddled beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. In that moment, I almost lost my mind. I thought, if she was truly your soulmate, how could she leave you in such a place?"

Morris's eyes softened with a tender smile. It was no wonder Nathalie had always been wary of Ashley; she had sensed the hollowness in their relationship from the very start.

Morris confessed, "Honestly, I'm not into her. I don't even want to get married." He lowered his gaze, unable to face the disappointment in Nathalie's eyes.

Nathalie felt a deep sadness. "Someone as amazing as you deserves more than loneliness, Nathan. I won't force you into anything, but I hope you find someone who makes your heart race and lets you feel the warmth of a real home."

She gently stroked his hair, gratitude in her touch. "You brought my father back to me, gave me a family again. I want to offer you the same."

Morris felt a wave of panic. What was Nathalie getting at?

It wasn't long before he found out.

She threw a cultural soirée at her place, inviting her friends over. Under the guise of a casual gathering, Nathalie had Morris observe the scene, saying, "Nathan, these ladies are top-tier-smart, beautiful, and well-regarded. See if any catch your eye... I'll help set you up."

Morris was at a loss. "Nathalie, I'm not interested in any of them."

"Then what do you like?" Nathalie inquired.

Morris met her gaze with intent. "Nathalie, don't you know what I like?"

His eyes were like a serene pool, drawing her in.

Nathalie was taken aback, pointing to herself. "You can't mean someone like me, right?"

Her earlobes turned a soft pink.

Morris reached out, gently pinching her earlobe. He wanted to say "yes," but instead, he said, "Who wouldn't like someone as thoughtful and insightful as you, Nathalie?"

Nathalie felt a pang of doubt. "I'm not as popular as you make me out to be."

Her marriage to Cameron had left her scarred by his coldness and disdain, stripping away her self-confidence.

Morris was surprised. "Hasn't anyone tried to woo you all these years?"
