Chapter 1325 You Have to Believe, I Won't Harm You
When Ann received the message, she thought she had misread it.
Last night at the hospital, she'd met Alex, who personally confirmed that Paul was dead.
Now she was being told he was still alive?
Betty called her again. "Ann, Mr. Montague asked you to take care of Paul. How do you know him?"
Ann's heart raced, and she unconsciously gripped her phone tighter, unsure how to respond.
She hesitated. "I've... just met him a few times through work."
Betty didn't question this-it made sense that Ann, as Selena's personal assistant who had attended numerous events with her, would have encountered Paul.
Besides, Ann had a reputation for being caring assertive in her work, articulate when speaking to people, yet gentle and attentive.
"It's getting late. You should drive there now-you'll probably arrive around ten. Someone will meet you there. Apart from you and Paul, only the doctor visits that villa. Mr. Montague insists this matter remain confidential."
"Even from Alex?"
"Yes, from everyone."
"Understood."
The people at S.M Corporation shared an implicit trust.
Ann immediately delegated her tasks to Ronald, who asked no questions but simply cautioned, "Be careful."

Ann hurried home to pack five changes of clothes, then stopped at the mall to buy several outfits for Paul before driving to the location.
She arrived at 10:30 PM.
A guard checked her photo before allowing her through the gate. She parked in front
of the villa and entered using the door code Betty had sent.
The entrance hall was empty. Upstairs, she found Paul in the master bedroom.
He lay in bed, freshly bandaged, with gauze wrapped around his head and chest.
The doctor had left; Paul was alone in the villa.
Ann had never seen him look so vulnerable before.
She had always been careful to keep Selena from discovering her involvement with Paul-the Adams family heir.
Their relationship began with a mistake, one she recognized as such.
But while she had initiated their game, ending it wasn't within her power.
She had learned to survive around Paul by being obedient and not resisting.
When he tired of her, he would let her go.
After sitting by his bed briefly, she went downstairs to check the refrigerator, which was stocked with fresh produce.
She asked the guard outside about the nearest supermarket.
"Ms. White, just tell us what you need daily. For safety reasons, neither you nor Mr. Adams should leave the villa."
"Thank you."

Back inside, she prepared a schedule of suitable meals for a patient, wrote it on a note, and stuck it to the refrigerator.
After showering upstairs, she settled on the small sofa next to the master bed.
Without his permission, she dared not sleep beside him.
Paul's injuries were severe; he would likely remain unconscious for a week.
She would need to learn proper wound care from the doctor.
The sound of a whip cut through the air.
Selena dodged left and right, but her arm caught a lash, causing her face to pale with pain.
By the edge of the small pool, a masked man issued merciless commands. "You've dodged half of ten lashes. You're learning."
Selena ignored his words, evading two more strikes before leaning against the pool's edge, catching her breath.
Her training objective was simple: dodge the whip.
The man remained cautious, never revealing much in her presence. The occasional news he brought from outside was always grim-Raymond had become a fugitive, Paul was dead.
Each piece of information tugged at Selena's heart.
But she needed to gain K's approval quickly and secure her position.
K set down his whip, saying coolly, "Rest now."
Every bone in her body ached, but at least she remained conscious throughout, unlike when she first began.

She felt a gaze upon her, filled with hatred and jealousy-someone who would gladly
tear her apart.
She frowned but ignored it, hoping only for her eyesight to improve.
After half an hour of soaking, K pulled her out abruptly.
The force nearly made her fall; instinctively, she grabbed his arm for support.
K frowned, glancing down at her, but said nothing as he guided her toward the nearby
bed.
A woman's voice respectfully offered, "K, let me help her."
"Not necessary," he replied.
Sitting on the bed, Selena looked toward where the woman's voice had come from.
The hateful gaze belonged to her. Who was she?
K demanded, "Selena, take this."
Selena asked, "What is it?"
A pill appeared at her lips, and she instinctively pulled back.
"You need to trust that I won't harm you." With those words, he gripped her chin and
forced the pill into her mouth.
Selena tried to spit it out, but it had already slid down her throat.
As she was about to protest, a blurry shadow appeared before her eyes.
She raised her hand, waving it in front of her face, and realized she could see indistinct shapes and movements.
