Melany forced a smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes.

“I’m okay.”

But her actions betrayed her words as her grip on Colton’s arm tightened visibly.

“Colton, today’s business is important. Don’t forget why we’re here,” Melany added.

She didn’t believe Allison had moved on from Colton so easily.

“Sure.” Kellan tightened his arm around Allison’s waist. “There’s too much drama here. It’s getting noisy.”

Melany’s words were meant to buy time. She had arranged for people to shadow Kellan’s subordinates and be ready to sabotage the gifts the moment they had the opportunity.

But Allison’s sharp instincts made her a difficult target. Melany needed to keep her distracted long enough for her plan to work.
