Chapter 1199
Chapter 1199:
Now a wealthy lady, she naturally fit in with the affluent crowd at her table, and their conversation flowed easily.
The traditional boundaries between teachers and students had dissolved, and they exchanged jokes freely.
“So what?” one of the women said. “You grew up, you’re not that conservative, right? Everyone in our circle has an affair. And it’s normal for a woman to have a man in her heart she can’t forget, even if she’s married.”
“That’s true,” another added. “Plus, Bryan is wealthy, handsome, and influential. We’re too intimidated to approach him, and we barely spoke to him in school. But Presley, you’re different. You were even punished by the school because of the rumors about you and him being together, and he…”
Their laughter and chatter filled the air.
Presley’s heart raced with their words.
She had been adopted as a child, and although her mother had been kind, she felt uneasy in the family after her mother remarried. Returning to the country to find a wealthy husband had been her goal. She had not expected to get entangled in such a scandal at school.
She also hadn’t anticipated being pressured into marrying Colby, whom she didn’t love, after going abroad again. In truth, she had developed feelings for Bryan, but she wouldn’t have developed such ideas based only on Amoura’s few words.
In the bustling room, her eyes scanned the crowd and landed on Bryan, who was at the center. Bryan wore a grey shirt with black custom-made buttons that gleamed in the light. Perhaps having had a bit too much to drink, he loosened his tie and slightly raised his eyebrows as he chatted with someone. Others at the table noticed Presley and exchanged knowing looks.

After a while, Bryan stood up and headed to the restroom located in a corner of the room. Just then, the woman sitting next to Presley accidentally knocked over her coffee cup, drenching Presley with the brown liquid.
“Oh, I’m terribly sorry. That was all my fault. Please head to the restroom to clean up…” the woman said to Presley.
At that moment, Jacob arrived.
Phoebe was enjoying snacks in the car when she spotted Jacob walking towards the club, his arm over a man’s shoulder. Her nerves caused her to scatter snacks all over the car.
“Hurry up! Don’t just sit there!” She unbuckled her seatbelt, ready to leave the car.
Eileen attempted to hold Phoebe back but was unsuccessful. Phoebe donned her down jacket and exited the car. Before Phoebe could advance, Eileen grabbed her hand to stop her. “That’s a man! Why are you getting so worked up because of that?”
“What?” Phoebe shrugged off Eileen’s hand and took a couple of steps forward. Then, she spun around to grab Eileen’s wrist and hurried her into the club. “I’m here to catch the woman he’s secretly meeting. Since he’s cunning, he’d likely use a man as a decoy.”
“What?” Eileen was puzzled. She believed Jacob wasn’t smart enough to do that.
Fortunately, Eileen wore flat shoes, or she might have tripped when Phoebe yanked her forward.
Her hair, once neatly tied in a ponytail, had become disheveled after being in the car for an extended period. Eileen entered a private room with Phoebe.
