Chapter 684 The Torrential Rain
Household matters occasionally troubled Patrick.
However, Randall was true to his word. Faced with a mountain of accumulated work, he felt the pressure when he first started, and his efficiency wasn't as high as before. Sometimes, he even worked overtime.
Twice, he forgot to pick up Susan from school.
After finishing his day's work, he went to Patrick's office to hand over some documents. Seeing the time on his phone, he immediately called Susan, "Susan, are you still waiting for me at school? It might rain soon. Find a place to take shelter, and I'll come pick you up after work."
"No, Randall, I took a cab home myself." She had waited at school for half an hour without seeing Randall, then noticing the weather turning bad, she quickly took a cab home. "Randall, I sent you a message. Did you not see it?"
Susan's tone was not at all resentful; she was always very understanding.
The summer weather was stuffy, and the sky was overcast.
Dark clouds gathered, making the sky look low.
The darkened sky made it get dark early. By six o'clock, the ground was already dim.
The large screen in the lobby of the Olteran Group was broadcasting weather changes, warning of heavy rain, and reminding everyone to take precautions.
The entrance of the Olteran Group also provided free umbrellas for employees who needed them.
The wind gradually picked up. Patrick was on the phone with his family, reassuring Vera. Anyone who came in to report work had to be quiet, as Patrick was comforting his wife and child.
Randall stood by and waited for a while.
"Theodore, take good care of Vera at home, don't cry, and let Vera hold you less, okay?"
Patrick smiled as he hung up the phone, then took the documents Randall handed over. "You didn't pick up Susan?"
"I was so busy today that I forgot. She went home by herself," Randall said.
Patrick looked through the documents and, without looking up, said to Randall,
"There's a heavy rainstorm across the city today. Driving isn't safe. Leave work early and go home."
Randall said, "I'll tell the employees in the secretarial office to leave early too."
"Okay," Patrick nodded while looking at the documents.
Randall went out and came back in a moment later. "Patrick, you should go home early too."noveldrama
Patrick looked up at the concerned Randall, "Okay."
When Randall finally got home, it was already seven o'clock. The rush hour traffic, combined with the heavy rain, had him stuck on the road. Suddenly, he saw a dessert shop. He rested his elbow on the window, fingers on his lips, thinking it over.
After enduring the long red light area, Randall made a U-turn and went to the dessert shop.
When he got home, Susan was already practicing. She and Shawn were equally not very good.
Randall's return made Susan happy, and Shawn was also pleased.
One was happy to see their loved one, and the other was happy about a game upgrade.
"Susan, I bought you a cake on the way," Randall hid the fact that he had carefully chosen it at the glass counter for a long time.
Susan happily took the cake, "Thank you, Randall."
"You're welcome. I was busy with work today and forgot to pick you up. I'm sorry."
He sat next to Susan and said.
Susan smiled and comforted Randall, "Randall, don't feel guilty. You don't have an obligation to pick me up, and you were working. I shouldn't disturb you. But the cake you bought is very sweet."
Sometimes Susan felt wronged by Randall's forgetfulness, but other times, her understanding made Randall feel even more guilty.
Seeing that Randall and Susan were ignoring him, Shawn left in boredom.
The rain poured down, and the windshield wipers couldn't keep up with the rain, which fell like a curtain in front of the windshield.
Molly was originally driving Ellie to the hospital for a check-up, but the rain was so heavy that Ellie didn't trust Molly's driving skills. Ellie temporarily switched places with Molly and drove herself.
While stuck in traffic, Ellie worriedly said, "Molly, call your dad and ask if he's home yet. The rain is heavy, tell him to drive slowly."
"Wait a minute, Mom, I'll call Sebastian first."
Sebastian's phone rang, "Sebastian, are you home yet?"
Sebastian had just passed a red light, "I just picked up Dad from his company. We'll be home soon. Where are you and Mom?"
"We're on the road."
Timothy was escorted to Sebastian's car by an assistant holding an umbrella. As soon as he got in the car, he saw Sebastian on the phone with Molly, "Sebastian, ask Molly how her mom's check-up went today."
Everyone was concerned about their own wives and cared about their own husbands.
Theodore, rarely seeing such a heavy rainstorm, was as curious as a cat. Vera held him upright against her chest, his little face facing out, his small bottom sitting on Vera's right arm, and her left arm wrapped around his chubby little body.
Theodore curiously looked at this magical world.
The heavy rain poured down, and the little guy lay by the closed window, looking out, "Ah, Mama, ah."
"Theodore, this is rain, a heavy rainstorm."
Vera and Theodore stood by the floor-to-ceiling window. Outside, the rain poured down, and the room already felt a bit damp.
Before long, Patrick's low-key Rolls-Royce appeared in their view. Patrick saw Vera and Theodore by the window from inside the car.
When he got out of the car, Vera was already out the door, holding Theodore in one hand and an umbrella in the other.
"Honey~" The wind was so strong that Vera's eyes squinted. She quickly turned around, using her back to shield Theodore.

Theodore was also blown by the wind, twitching twice in Vera's arms, his chubby little legs and feet wiggling.
A servant quickly brought an umbrella to Patrick.
Patrick strode under the eaves, holding Vera as they entered the house.
With no more wind, Theodore returned to Patrick's arms.
The warm family contrasted sharply with the storm outside.
Theodore hadn't had enough of looking. After his bath, Patrick held him by the window again, but it was too dark outside to see anything. Theodore started to pout. "Stop pouting. No matter how powerful your dad is, he can't control the sun," Vera teased Theodore while drying her hair.
At that moment, a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder lit up the sky.
The sound was loud, and the outdoors momentarily looked like daytime, then turned dark again in a second.
Theodore's loud crying filled the room.
This time, Theodore was really scared and started crying immediately.
Vera, with her hair still wet, dropped the hairdryer and ran to the window to hold Theodore.
Theodore clung tightly to Vera's clothes, his tears soaking her collar, "Daddy and Mommy are here, Teddy. Don't be afraid. We'll protect you."
Patrick closed the window to reduce the thunder's noise.
He drew the curtains and went to Theodore's side to wipe his tears, "The thunder was
too loud and scared him."
At the Chase Manor, a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder also startled Molly.
"Put down your phone and go to sleep," Sebastian said. "Playing with your phone during a thunderstorm, be careful not to get struck by lightning."
