The CEO's Mischievous Little Bride

Chapter 688 Life Mixed with Happiness

The family doctor arrived, and at Shawn's request, he brought a pediatrician along this time.

Teddy looked at the unfamiliar faces and started crying loudly, refusing to let the doctors touch him.

"Teddy, don't cry. I'll hold you while they check you, okay?" Cindy hugged Teddy, letting the doctors examine him.

By late morning, Patrick found some time and called Shawn. "Dad, how's Teddy doing?"

"Teddy's got a fever. The doctor said to use physical cooling methods and not to give him medicine yet, just keep him hydrated," Shawn said, clearly frustrated. "Seriously, just water? Can water fix everything? Teddy's been drinking so much water today that his little belly is all bloated."

Patrick rubbed his temples. "Follow the doctor's advice. Don't give him too much water at once."

Over the phone, Teddy's crying could still be heard. Shawn moved the phone closer to Teddy. "Teddy, it's your dad on the phone."

Patrick spoke gently, "Teddy, are you crying again?"

Teddy's crying paused, unsure where the voice was coming from.

Cindy teased Teddy with a smile, "Looking for your dad?"

Patrick said, "Take a nap, buddy. Dad will come home early to be with you."

Teddy, still unhappy, started crying again.

Patrick's break was over, and he headed back to the meeting room. On the way, Randall asked, "Uncle Patrick, how's Teddy?"

"Your grandpa said he has a slight fever," Patrick replied. "Let's get this meeting started."

At noon, Vera skipped lunch to find her professor and reschedule her classes. Typically, university professors keep the same pace across different classes, so Vera could attend the earlier session and still cover the same material.

"Professor, I'm Vera from your afternoon classes."

"I know, I know," the professor nodded. Vera was well-known at the school.

Vera explained, "The temperature dropped a few days ago, and my son got sick with a fever and cold. Can I attend the earlier classes today? I want to go home early; I'm really worried about him."

The professor responded, "No problem, you can join the earlier class. Kids are most prone to colds this season. How old is your son?"

"Almost six months," Vera realized she had been a mom for nearly half a year.

Time flies, slipping away in small moments. Reflecting on it, Vera felt like her days as a young girl were ages ago, yet she was only a junior in college.

Skipping lunch, Vera went straight to the classroom.

Having not slept the night before, she knew she'd be exhausted in the afternoon. So, when the classroom was empty, Vera laid her head on the desk to catch up on sleep.

Susan couldn't find Vera. Vera had silenced her phone for class and forgot to turn it back on, leaving Susan unable to reach her.

Susan messaged Randall, "Randall, do you know where Vera's class is? I want to bring her a sandwich; she didn't eat lunch."

A few minutes later, Randall replied, "I'll ask Patrick."

Patrick was leaning back in his chair, watching the screen with various department heads when Randall whispered to him.

Patrick's stern face softened slightly. He sat up and said quietly, "Vera's schedule is on my personal phone. Send it to Susan."

"Got it."

Randall used Patrick's phone to send the information.

Susan found the classroom just before the class started. With limited time, Vera only managed a few bites to stave off her hunger.

After a short nap, Vera felt much better and had more energy for the afternoon.

After class, she thanked the professor and hurried home.

When she arrived, Teddy wasn't crying. Vera walked in to find him being fed formula. Hungry, he wasn't picky.

"Teddy, Mommy's home."

Teddy's body stiffened, his little mouth stopped sucking on the bottle. Cindy took the bottle away and picked Teddy up, "Look who's home, Mommy's back to hold her baby boy."

Vera gradually came into Teddy's view, and for the first time that day, he smiled.

In Vera's arms, Teddy's first instinct was to look for food.

Back in her bedroom, Molly followed. "Right now, the whole family's heart is with Teddy."

Vera smiled and checked Teddy's ear temperature, asking how he was today.noveldrama

"He wouldn't sleep, cried after a short nap," Molly summarized.

But since Vera returned, Teddy drank his milk and fell asleep.

"Did Patrick call today?"

Molly nodded, "He did. Sebastian also called several times, all asking about Teddy."

Holding Teddy, Vera finally felt at ease.

"Vera, put Teddy on the bed and rest for a bit."

Knowing Teddy well, Vera said, "I'll hold him while he sleeps. He's already

uncomfortable; if I put him down, he'll cry again. He's sick, so let's spoil him a bit."

In Vera's arms, Teddy slept soundly.

Patrick called home again in the afternoon, learning that Vera was back and Teddy was asleep. He said, "Dad, have the kitchen make something for Vera. She went to reschedule her classes and didn't eat lunch."

Shawn immediately took on a scolding tone, though his words were full of concern, "You know Vera! Why didn't she say anything when she got home? If she had told us earlier, the food would be ready by now. I'll go tell the kitchen right away."

When the food was ready, Vera remembered she hadn't eaten. She joked, "Teddy's crying made me forget I was hungry. If anyone wants to lose weight, have a baby; it'll guarantee they slim down." She glanced at Molly.

"Why are you looking at me? I'm not having a baby!" Molly turned her face away. Shawn added, "You're the one who talks about losing weight the most." Molly retorted, "Well, I want to lose weight. I'll hold Teddy to lose weight."

Molly held Teddy so Vera could eat. Just as she was about to hand him over, Teddy whimpered again, "Forget it, I'll hold him and eat. I'll take it slow and savor each bite." Vera quickly hugged the chubby Teddy.

Patrick finished the meeting, and Jack approached, "Mr. Olteran, the meeting's over. Several managers want to have dinner with you."

Patrick put on his suit jacket, grabbed his car keys, and said while walking, "I won't be joining. Teddy's been sick these past few days, and Vera's been taking care of him alone. I'll leave work early to help her with the baby."

"What's wrong with Teddy?" Jack asked with concern.

Patrick waited at the elevator for the private lift, "The temperature dropped, and Vera and I didn't prepare well. Teddy caught a cold and has a fever."

The elevator arrived, and Patrick stepped in, "You attend the gathering for me tonight. The company will cover the dinner expenses."

"Understood."

Randall was organizing the meeting notes, frequently checking the time, worried he might forget to pick up Susan.

Just past five, Randall grabbed his files and stood up, ready to leave.

"Randall, where are you going?" Jack asked.
