The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 742

The plane landed safely. Hendrix then drove himself to Creston.

The journey took five or six hours, but he didn't feel the slightest bit of fatigue. He had considered bringing someone with him, but Dylan had insisted he come alone. Otherwise, all he would find was Noelle's corpse.

Hendrix didn't want to take that risk. He couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to Noelle. Besides, he had already made arrangements for what would come after. If he really died there, Dylan wouldn't survive, either.

Once Dylan was gone, the people backing him would lose their support, and they would have no choice but to release Noelle. That was if Noelle was still alive.

But if something had already happened to her, then it was only right for him to join her in death. He knew this was irresponsible of him-especially toward Beatrice and Rosie, and just when Rosie had finally started to warm up to him.

But before he was a son or a father, Hendrix was first and foremost himself-and Noelle's husband. They had vowed to face any hardship together, and not just once. So, he had to keep her company. Otherwise, she would be all alone.

The car wound through the mountain roads, leaving the bustling city and lively streets far behind.

Following the coordinates, Hendrix finally saw the place. It was a dilapidated and abandoned village. Everywhere he looked, there was nothing but emptiness and decay.

After parking the car, Hendrix was about to make a call when he heard a sound behind him. It was a sound he knew all too well-the scrape of a baseball bat dragging along the ground. He quickly turned around to see several men emerging from a nearby house.

The sky was just beginning to lighten, and the objects in their hands gleamed faintly. Honestly, Hendrix wasn't surprised. Given how far Dylan had gone, why would he actually tell him where Noelle was?noveldrama

Hendrix was just betting on that one-in-a-million chance. But now, it seemed that he had lost the bet.

Even though he already knew the answer, he still asked, "Where's Noelle?"

No one answered him.

Hendrix continued, "All you want is money, right? Tell me where Noelle is, and I'll pay you ten times what Dylan offered."

The leader of the group let out a cold

laugh. "Mr. Freeman, looks like you have quite the short memory. Why don'Dyou take a closer look at who I am?"

Hendrix raised an eyebrow. After staring at the man for a couple of seconds, it

finally clicked. He was Ruth's husband, Ricky!

That made a whole lot of sense. If Dylan wanted Hendrix dead, why would he hire people who could be bought with money? The people sent here were undoubtedly those who wanted him dead. Thus, anything Hendrix said to them was pointless.

"Hmm, it seems like you don't know where Noelle is, either," Hendrix said with a

chuckle. "What? I'm not even allowed to die with a little clarity?"

"Of course you're allowed," Ricky

replied. "But you'll find out after you're dead. After all, your wife

already waiting for you on the other side."

Hendrix's expression changed instantly, and his hand-hanging by his side—

slowly curled into a fist.
