Chapter 392
Cole couldn't make the final call on his own.
Lila was also aware of the aforementioned business partner. She noticed Kieran's slight frown and his frosty expression.
She quickly spoke up, "Kieran, it's fine to go take a look. After all, we've already explored most of the places around.
"I can tag along on the company visit-it'll be a good opportunity for me to learn something new."
In truth, Cole personally hoped Kieran would go, but he didn't have the authority to make decisions for the CEO.
Hearing Lila's suggestion, Cole quickly added, "Exactly! Bring Mrs. Morgan along for a visit. Jeffrey Coolidge said he'd prepared a wedding gift for you both."
Lila caught his hint and chimed in again, "Kieran, you should go."
Kieran's frown relaxed slightly. He instructed Cole to share their current address with Raven Corporation. Not long after they finished breakfast, a car from Raven Corporation arrived to pick them up.
Lila hadn't expected the company owner, Jeffrey Coolidge, to personally welcome and greet them. Then again, she realized that Kieran probably warranted such respect.
Lila's eyes widened in shock when they were presented with the wedding gift.
Wait. Who would give out a whole case of jewelry? The case was divided into three tiers, each filled with necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings. Every accessory came in ten different designs.
For a moment, Lila thought she had stumbled into a market. Judging by the intricacy of the craftsmanship, the pieces were clearly of premium quality.
Even so, she was too flustered to accept the gift. Her polite smile was a gentle refusal.
But Jeffrey wasn't having it. No one was to turn down his gift. He insisted, even claiming it wasn't worth much.
Kieran, noticing Lila's awkward smile, seemed amused.
"Just accept it. It's Mr. Coolidge's token of appreciation," he said.
Lila whispered, "This token of his feels way too over the top."
The boss didn't understand much of the Vertorian language, but his intention was obvious: refusal wasn't an option.
Kieran patted her head. "Go ahead and take it. Their annual profits from working with the Morgan Group is worth at least 10 times that gift."
Left with no choice, Lila accepted it, but the weight of the case nearly made her collapse the moment she took it.
Kieran's quick reflexes saved her as he steadied her hand and instructed the staff to deliver the case upstairs.
During the car ride, Jeffrey didn't converse much with Kieran. Instead, he was keen to chat with Lila.
"So, Mr. Morgan's lover turns out to be such a beautiful woman. No wonder he's always in such a hurry to return home whenever he visits."
Lila was taken aback.
In a hurry to return home to his lover?
She pressed her lips together, unsure how to respond. She clearly had nothing to do with that.
She glanced at Kieran, who remained composed as if everything Jeffrey said were entirely true.
Lila saw no reason to call him out. She offered a faint smile and a noncommittal affirmation in response.
Her response only fueled Jeffrey's enthusiasm. He said to Kieran, "Mr. Morgan you're really something You've been avoiding me all this time, claiming you were too busy, but turns out you just wanted some alone time with your wife.
"Look, our company runs a major tourism program and would love to provide the best services for you both, free of charge."
Lila flashed a polite, grateful smile as Jeffrey went on. "You've been in love for so many years. Do you have any sweet stories to share with us?"
He was clearly curious. "I've asked Mr. Morgan about you many times, but he never shares anything with me. Now that I've finally met you, understand why-someone as stunning as you deserve to be
protected and taken care of."
He spoke rapidly, engrossed in his gossip, without noticing the brief change in Lila's expression.
Was Jeffrey told that they had been in love for many years?
She turned to look at Kieran, who calmly responded, "My wife is a reserved person."
The boss suddenly realized he might have been a bit overbearing. He quickly apologized to Lila.
Kieran offered, "I'll share our story in detail with you some other time."
Jeffrey raised an eyebrow and lowered his voice as though sharing a secret. Mr. Morgan truly loves
never seen him sonoveldrama
over anyone before."
Lila felt a surge of complicated emotions but managed to maintain a polite smile.
They were given a tour of the facilities at Raven Corporation and later took part in the tourism program Jeffrey had mentioned.
While they were on the way, Lila's phone chimed with a text notification.
She glanced at the sender's name and froze for a moment. It was Rob Mason.
What do you think?
