Chapter 287
She had anticipated hearing something like this, and she looked at him coolly.
"How should I know? Why are you asking me? Go ask your precious Finnian."
"Amara, are you seriously trying to argue with me?" Hogan sneered, his expression icy. "Don't think just because Grandpa likes you, you can do whatever you please. The Everly family still listens to Finnian."
"Don't you think your logic is a bit off? If the Everly family listens to Finnian, then go talk to him. Why are you here with me?"
Hogan was caught up in her words, realizing he was getting nowhere with these verbal sparrings. He dropped the pretense and cut straight to the point: "I don't know how you've managed to charm Finnian, but once this movie wraps, you'd better make yourself scarce around Wye. Don't stick around Finnian and my sister-in-law, or you know what'll happen."
Threatening her? Amara was livid, her anger boiling over.
Since the day she married into the Everly family, Hogan had been a thorn in her side.noveldrama
Back when she was meek and mild, she had suffered under his thumb countless times. Now that she had finally gotten divorced and hadn't done anything wrong, why should she put up with this?
She stared coldly at Hogan, all her anger and resentment surging to the surface, her gaze growing icier by the second, making Hogan shiver involuntarily.
"What are you doing?" Hogan scoffed, "Don't think just because you're looking at me like that, I'll..."
"Bang!"
Amara grabbed Hogan by the collar and slammed him against the door.
Hogan's eyes widened in disbelief. How could someone as timid as Amara do something so aggressive?
"Listen up, Finnian," she said fiercely. "If I hear those words come out of your mouth one more time, I swear I'll end you."
Amara was beside herself with rage, shouting without a care if Hogan might retaliate.
She was usually the quiet, easily bullied type, but when pushed to the edge, she could become a whirlwind of fury.
She had already lost her temper in front of Finnian and Liliana once before; this was the second time she was losing it in front of the Everly family.
She had indeed scared Hogan; his eyes wide as he stammered, "Amara, are you out of your mind? Did you take the wrong pills and lose it?"
"You're the one with the problem! If you weren't, would you constantly shove your responsibilities onto others?"
"Finnian says he likes me, how should I know why? If you want to know, ask him yourself! Stop bothering me all the time, aren't you tired of it?"
Amara released Hogan, still trembling with anger, breathing heavily.
Initially, Hogan was taken aback Amara's outburst, but slowly his gaze turned steely, his demeanor oppressive. Amara felt a twinge of fear but didn't regret her actions.
Hogan's endless provocations would drive anyone to madness; she was just late to that party.
"What's going on here?"
Suddenly, the door swung open to reveal Finnian and Liliana standing in the doorway, frowning at the scene before them.
Someone had tipped Finnian off that
Hogan was once again pestering Amara, so he had rushed over to the
set, with Liliana joining him after spotting him on her way.
Finnian knew all too well what kind of person Hogan was, and if he was seeking out Amara, it couldn't be
good. So he didn't bother
knocking and just opened the door.
He hadn't expected to walk in on such a scene, with Amara so upset she was
trembling. Just how much had she been put through?
What do you think?
