Unforgettable love

Chapter 61

Chapter 61:.

This idiot!

Samuel glared at Matthew, his eyes almost popping out.

Matthew laughed, feeling an inexplicable pleasure in watching that boy get angry.

With a look of panic, Dolores dodged his hand, pulled Samuel into the car and left the scene.

Samuel looked out the window and grimaced at the annoyed Matthew.

Matthew furrowed his eyebrows and secretly cursed “nasty boy.”

Bryan walked over and watched the car drive away as Matthew did, asking,

“Are we going back?”

Matthew took off his suit jacket, tossed it toward Bryan and then headed toward his car.

Catching the suit jacket, Bryan twisted his mouth. Not daring to utter a complaint, he followed Matthew with long strides.

Sitting in the car, Matthew stroked his eyebrows and couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at the thought of the moment Dolores appeared.

Bryan, who was driving the car, studied him in the rearview mirror, feeling very curious about their relationship.

Who was this woman?

He got an ecstatic chuckle out of Matthew.

Oh, gosh, that’s weird, really weird.

“Mr. Nelson, is that kind of woman to your liking?” Bryan was very curious. It was true that woman was pretty, but she had two children who were already five or six years old. Why was her boss picking on her?

Was it because he preferred young married women?

The young married woman had a unique charm, but how could her boss be infatuated with the one who had two children?

What if that woman had a husband?

Then would he be a homewrecker and secretly date that woman?

The more Bryan thought about his own, the harder it was for him to suppress the urge to laugh out loud.

He felt aroused just imagining that scene.noveldrama

Matthew slowly opened his eyes and asked in an emotionless tone, “What kind?”

“Do you prefer women who have given birth…”

Bryan suddenly felt that something had gone wrong. He paused immediately and smiled obsequiously and apologetically, “Women who have given birth have their special charms. Judging by the good looks of your son, I can tell that he has not undergone any cosmetic surgery.”

At the words ‘has given birth to a boy’, Matthew felt inexplicably uneasy. He tugged at the collar of his shirt, “Would you die if you shut up?”.

Bryan soon stopped talking and studied the man who was in an uncertain mood from the rearview mirror from time to time.

He had been in a good mood, but suddenly became somber. Oh dear, could they have a pleasant conversation?

Bryan then arranged a hotel for Matthew.

Matthew stayed there all night, but he kept tossing and turning in bed and kept thinking about that woman.

He couldn’t fall asleep.

She had changed so much. Before, people had thought of her as a pure and meek woman, but now she had become self-assured, her manner of speech and the way she carried herself when she spoke eloquently about her profession made her seem especially charming.

However… Did she have another man by her side when she stayed here in recent years?

Thinking about this, she pulled out her phone and made a call to Abbott, asking him to look into Dolores’ living conditions in recent years, as well as the people who stayed by her side.

Lately, the chief’s calls have been focused on Dolores. Could it be that he has fallen in love with her? Since when did he care so much about one woman? He never even cared that much about Helen, whose identity is now Maria Herbert. He has become increasingly indifferent over the past few years, but now he is suddenly passionate; and it is all caused by a woman who has been missing for a long time. It is inconvincing to say that he has no feelings for her.” thought Abbott to himself.

However, Abbott still did not understand why Matthew was infatuated with Dolores, for, although they had been married then, they had not been on good terms for a long time.

He didn’t understand, but no one could answer his question.

Just as Matthew had hung up the phone, Jayden’s call came in.

Matthew could guess his intentions without even answering the call.

With a few lights in his eyes, he slowly closed his eyes in an attempt to hide his emotions. The sweetness in his eyes as he thought of Dolores disappeared and was replaced by coldness. Then he pressed the answer button.

“What’s going on with you and Maria? I heard from her that you wanted to cancel your engagement…”

“We’ll talk about this when I get back.” Matthew looked out the window sadly. This was the reason he hadn’t chosen to stay here and asked Abbott to look into Dolores instead.

It was because the engagement had to do not only with their marriage, but also with the business connections between the Nelson Family and the Herbert Family.

The news of their engagement had gone viral. Now that he wanted to cancel the engagement, he had to explain himself to both his families and the Herberts.

Therefore, he returned to the country the next day.

Since Abbott had gone to Country A to investigate Dolores’ past, it was a driver who came to pick up Matthew. Matthew did not seem tired from the long drive of several hours and asked the driver to go directly to Nelson Manor.

The scenery passed quickly through the car windows and the car soon stopped in front of a magnificent but unassuming mansion that had tall, magnificent gates as well as a courtyard. The round arched windows and marbles in the corners gave it a sumptuous appearance.

After parking the car, the driver walked to the rear seat door and opened the door. Matthew then reached down and calmly stepped out of the car. He stopped in front of the first gate and looked up expressionlessly before striding steadily toward the house.

Passing down the wide, marble-paved driveway, he entered the house.

“Young Master.” Thomas, the family butler, stepped forward and greeted Matthew, then continued, “Master is waiting for you inside.” Matthew nodded slightly to show he understood.

The hall was spacious, stately and elegant, with period decorations that had a heavy color tone, which made the whole hall seem more solemn. There was a man leaning on the cushion of the black wooden sofa: it was Jayden Nelson, Matthew’s father.

As for the woman sitting next to Jayden, Matthew felt annoyed to even look at her.

He took off his suit jacket, handed it to the maid, then walked over to the couch and sat down next to Jayden.

“What’s wrong with you?” asked Jayden, who was sitting on the couch with his back straight. He looked serene and reserved, and his voice was sonorous and oppressive, yet helpless and anxious.

“I’ll handle it.” Matthew replied briefly without any emotion.

It was very clear to Jayden why Matthew was so indifferent. It was all due to the things that happened to his mother back then….

She rarely went back to the usual times and had been acting willfully….

However, this partnership marriage was related to the future development of the Nelson family.

The Nelson family was like “a parvenu” in B-town. Although the scale of their enterprise was quite large, it somehow lacked some fundamentals.

But the Herbert Family, which had been around for a century, was very different. Although it did not have outstanding business performance at present, it still had its reputation.

It would be a win-win situation if the two families could be connected by marriage.

“I can let you act voluntarily when it comes to other matters. But there is no way you can cancel this engagement.” Jayden’s attitude became harsh.

Matthew replied in a warm, nonchalant tone, “Only I myself can decide about my marriage.”

“You…” Jayden was speechless with anger and his chest was heaving up and down.

Victoria Forbis, who was sitting next to him, hurriedly smoothed his back,

“Speak slowly and don’t get angry.”

“How can I not get angry?” Jayden said with a long face.

“Matthew, just follow your father’s will this time…” Victoria tried to persuade him.

Matthew’s voice became even colder as he sneered, “Who do you think you are to persuade me?”

Victoria’s expressions turned horrified.

“After all, he’s your superior, how can you talk to him like that?” Jayden slapped the armrest and stood up.

Victoria also stood up to support him, “Don’t be angry. I can understand Matthew’s feelings.”

Jayden let out a sigh and reached out to hold Victoria’s hand, “It must have been hard for you over the last few years.”

Matthew stood up, he didn’t want to see his father showing his affection for this woman.

He grabbed the servant’s suit jacket and turned his back to Jayden, “I’ll explain to the Herbert Family.”

He then walked out of the house after finishing the words.

Jayden pointed to his back, “How…how can he still be so willful, is he still a child, doesn’t he know what’s more important?”.

Victoria also briefly let out a sigh, “Maybe he doesn’t like Miss Herbert Family.”

“No.” But Jayden didn’t think so. He added, “I was agreeing to stay with her before.”

Victoria agreed after a second. Matthew agreed to the engagement then, but suddenly changed his mind as the engagement ceremony approached.
