Chapter 309 Yulia Travis
Faris glanced at his hand and smiled indifferently. "It's nothing, just some mistakes I made when I was young and reckless.
The bald man seemed surprised by his frankness and then looked at Faris with a hint of admiration.
He lit a cigarette and said with a smile, "Everyone has had their reckless moments."
Later, the bald man asked about Emily's family situation over the years and inquired about which hospital her brother was staying in, saying he would visit him when he had the chance.
As they were leaving, Emily called him "Dad."
The bald man stopped in his tracks and looked back at her with a complicated expression.
He said, "Don't call me Dad anymore. Everyone calls me Mr. Glover, so you should call me Mr. Glover too. In this circle, our lives are always on the line, and having ties with me could be bad for you."
On the way back from the winery, Emily said she wanted to visit her brother, so Faris took her to the hospital.
She asked if he wanted to go in with her, but he said he had something to do and would visit another day.
After leaving the hospital, he went straight back to the club and asked the HR department to bring him the resumes of all the applicants from today.
Each resume had a photo attached, and he quickly found the one he was looking for among the dozen or so resumes.
After reading the resume, he called the HR manager and pointed to the resume. "Notify this Yulia Travis to come for an interview this afternoon."
The HR manager said, "Yulia has no education or experience. I think the others are better."
Faris shot him a sharp look. "We're hiring a room attendant. If you have experience, why don't you make a bed for me?"
The HR manager was left speechless and left in embarrassment.
As he was about to leave the office, the man's voice behind him said, "Tell her to come
to my office. I'll interview her personally."
The HR manager was surprised but didn't dare to object and agreed.
In the afternoon, when Emily arrived, she saw Yulia walking into Faris's office.
It was an unfamiliar face she hadn't seen before.
"Rafael, who is she?"
Rafael said, "She's here to apply for a room attendant position. Mr. Melville said he would interview her personally. Please rest here for a while, and I'll get you a cup of coffee."
"Does a room attendant need him to interview personally?"
Rafael was also puzzled. "Yes, usually Mr. Melville only interviews for high-level
positions. The HR department handles all the hiring for attendants."
In the office, Faris leaned back in his chair, his eyes following the woman who walked
in.
"Mr. Melville, hello, my name is Yulia Travis."
Faris didn't speak, just stared at her without blinking.
The eerie silence made Yulia a bit nervous. She had heard that the others who came to apply were interviewed by the HR department, and only she was interviewed by the boss himself. She didn't know whether to feel honored or unlucky.
"Yulia?"
Thankfully, he finally spoke. Yulia nodded.
"Age?"
"27."
"Where are you from?"
"Local."
"Who do you have in your family?"
"My parents are alive, and I have an older brother."
"What did you do before?"
"Mr. Melville, isn't all this basic information on my resume?"
Yulia couldn't help but say, but as soon as she saw Faris frown, she realized her tone
was wrong and quickly explained softly, "I mean, asking again is wasting your valuable time."
Faris wasn't angry; instead, he smiled, but there seemed to be a hint of fatigue and sadness in his eyes. "You're right."
He picked up a pen and quickly signed his opinion on her resume.
He then said, "You're hired. Follow the procedure, get a medical check-up tomorrow,
and once you have the health certificate, you can start working."
Emily sipped her coffee and finally saw Yulia come out of the office.
She watched her leave before putting down her coffee cup and walking into the office.
Faris was leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed, resting.
She asked, "Why interview personally and tire yourself out? I remember you never used to handle these things."
Faris opened his eyes, rubbed his temples, and smiled. "Sometimes, I have to make my presence felt to ensure everyone knows I'm actively involved."
Of those who applied that day, five were hired after the HR department's screening.
The next day, the new employees reported to the club, and the HR department began their pre-job training.
Halfway through the training, Faris suddenly appeared at the door. The HR manager immediately stopped and respectfully approached him.
The HR manager reported that the training was almost complete, and they just needed to assign the work.
Faris nodded, his gaze sweeping over each of their faces before finally settling on Yulia.

He ordered, "Yulia, you'll be responsible for cleaning the 18th floor. The others will fill in the manpower gaps on other floors."
The HR manager was stunned. Faris seemed to be giving Yulia special treatment, not only personally overseeing her interview but also assigning her to the 18th floor.
It was well known that the 18th floor housed the club's most luxurious suites, including Faris's own private suite.
Yulia didn't know what was special about the 18th floor; she just wanted to do her job well. To her surprise, after Faris left, the previously stern HR manager was exceptionally kind to her, personally taking her to the 18th floor to familiarize her with the environment telling her to come to him with any needs or difficulties.
Of course, being treated well was better than being treated harshly, so she gladly accepted it.
That evening, Faris received a call from Starlight City. Richard said he was getting married.
To attend his wedding, Faris boarded a plane to Starlight City.
As the plane passed through the clouds, his memories drifted back to a few years ago.
A few years ago, he rushed back to Starlight City to celebrate Yanis's birthday.
At that time, he hadn't achieved what he had today.
When he arrived at his grandmother's house in Starlight City, he didn't see Yanis. His grandmother was worried and told him that Yanis was up to no good, not doing anything productive.
He called Yanis, and the sound of rock music and noise came through the phone.
"Faris, did you call because you remembered it's my birthday today?"
"Why is it so noisy?"
"A few buddies are celebrating my birthday."
"Address?"
Entering the smoky nightclub, he initially wanted to scold him, but for the sake of his brother's face, he didn't. Instead, he toasted everyone, thanking them for celebrating his brother's birthday.
Among his so-called buddies, he saw someone.
"Who is he?" Faris asked Yanis coldly, staring at the person.
Yanis put down his drink and pulled him into another room.
"Is he Victor's son? Is that right?" Faris asked sternly.
Yanis, feeling a bit guilty, said, "I know what you mean. Victor is Victor, and Richard is
Richard. They're two different things."
"Are you involved in something illegal?" Faris had a suspicion.
Yanis didn't answer directly.
Faris pressed on, "Yanis, you're going to ruin yourself."

Yanis sighed, "This is a one-way road. If I try to quit now, they'll never let me walk
away."
Faris was silent for a long time. After finishing a cigarette, he made a decision.
"Fine, if you're in, I'm in. If things go south, we'll face it together. Take me to see your
boss."
And so, he got close to Rhyns, becoming friends with the son of his enemy. Looking back, he realized his thoughts at that moment were quite malicious. He thought corrupting Victor's son was a form of revenge.
Over the years, personal hatred had consumed him entirely. Just as love extends to those associated with the beloved, so does hate. He hated everyone related to Victor. Later, he realized that in the face of certain principles, personal grudges were insignificant.
Life could be quite dramatic. He and Yanis, Ethan and Richard, shared the same roots but took completely opposite paths. Though their choices led them in different ways, both journeys were equally treacherous-like teetering on the edge of a cliff, where a single misstep could spell disaster.
He knew Richard was innocent, but they were already on a perilous path. Forcing them to face the fallout wasn't cruelty-it was rescue, pulling them back from the edge of destruction.
In hindsight, Yanis was right: Victor and Richard were worlds apart.
That day, Faris was resting in his private suite. When he stood up from the sofa, Emily immediately went to support him.
He told her to go back, and he staggered away.
Emily watched his departing figure, feeling a bit lost.
She knew he often stayed at the club, and she had stayed in his suite before, but today
he told her to go back, making it clear he didn't want her company.
Faris indeed drank too much that night. When he got back to his room, he fell asleep immediately.
He didn't know how long he slept, but he woke up feeling parched and got up to get
some water.
As he sat up, he noticed a beam of light slowly moving from the door towards him, so
he stayed still, watching the light get closer.
The person was cautious, taking each step lightly. The beam of light moved left and right, as if searching for something.
Finally, the light shone on the bed, directly on Faris's face. The intruder instinctively gasped, and at the same time, Faris turned on the bedside lamp.
Seeing the intruder, Faris was the one who was surprised. "Why is it you?"
Yulia remembered that when she did her final cleaning before leaving, the room was
empty. How could she have known that someone, especially her boss, would be lying on the bed when she returned?
"Mr. Melville, I'm sorry, I entered the wrong room and disturbed your rest. I'll leave
now."
She apologized while backing away. As she turned to run, a hand suddenly grabbed
her from behind and pinned her against the wall.
Her hands were twisted behind her back, her face pressed against the wall, in a
position that resembled a police officer apprehending a thief.
She thought he must have misunderstood and was about to explain when she felt a
chill on her back. The man behind her had already started to strip her.noveldrama
