When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 509

Lemira stood quietly on the side, watching as Evelina turned a shade of green with frustration.

"Caspian, I'm part of the Langston family too, you know," Evelina said, her voice dripping with resentment.

"You don't deserve it," Caspian retorted, rolling up the car window, clearly unwilling to exchange another word with her.

Lemira approached Evelina, giving her a once-over. "Did you really think your little tricks would work forever? Unless you're planning to keep up the act your whole life, which you clearly didn't manage," she said, her voice heavy with sarcasm.

Evelina's expression darkened considerably. She regretted not listening to her father's advice to keep up her facade in front of Caspian. But Caspian had been in a tight spot back then, facing a lawsuit from Lemira, and Evelina had thought he was finished. She had dropped her act, not expecting Caspian and Lemira to join forces.

Once Lemira got into the car, it drove away, leaving Evelina standing there, furious and stomping her foot. She vowed that she and her father would drain the Langston family dry, making them pay dearly when the time came.noveldrama

In the car, Lemira glanced at the receding figure of Evelina. "Aren't you worried that the 'two-faced' girl might run back and tattle on you?"

Caspian paused for a moment. "Only Asher is on her side now, and we all know what kind of person Evelina is."

"Yeah, only when the boomerang hits you do you realize it hurts. I get it," Lemira replied with a wry smile, then dropped the subject.

Caspian hesitated before asking, "There are a lot of things happening at the company. How do you plan to handle it?"

"You take care of it. I don't have the time right now," Lemira replied, easing Caspian's tension. It seemed she was targeting Evelina, not him.

When the car arrived at the villa, Lemira took in the sight of the house. In her past life spent in Lyria, she'd never had the chance to visit.

As she stepped out, the staff lined up in two neat rows. Evelina arrived just then, her cab pulling up as she stormed out, determined to make a scene. Spotting the grand welcome, she dashed ahead of Lemira.

"Welcome home, Ms. Lemira!" The staff chorused, their voices synchronized.

Evelina strutted at the front, basking in the attention with a smirk. But her triumph was short-lived as Caspian grabbed her hair and yanked her back forcefully.

Tears streamed down Evelina's face from the pain. "Caspian, what are you doing?"

"Evelina, you need to know your place. This dinner is in Lemira's honor. Who do you think you are, walking ahead of her?" Caspian snapped, giving her a shove that sent the 'two-faced' girl sprawling to the ground.

Humiliated in front of the staff, Evelina noticed their mocking glances and, feeling cornered, shouted, "But I'm also Ms. Langston! Why can't I walk in front?"

She had been the only daughter here for a while, used to being treated like royalty. But everything changed with Lemira's return.

Caspian scoffed. "The Langston family treated you as an equal, but you had your own agenda. You don't deserve the kindness the Langstons showed you."

Recalling how Evelina's demeanor had shifted the moment she got control of the company from Asher, Caspian realized all the goodwill he'd given her was a regrettable mistake.

Evelina's confidence faltered. She regretted not keeping up her act for longer in front of Caspian.

Caspian then turned to Lemira. "Let's start over, shall we?"

Lemira observed the scene with a smirk, then glanced over at Evelina. "Trying to replace me? You're not even close," she taunted, deliberately provoking the 'two-faced' gir before turning to head into the villa.

"Welcome home, Ms. Lemira!" The staff echoed once more, their voices loud and clear.

Lucian and Alaric Langston stood at the entrance, holding a bouquet of flowers, ready to welcome her.

Evelina watched from the doorway,

her eyes burning with jealousy. All of this should have been hers. Why did Lemira get to swoop in and take it all away? The Langston family really were ungrateful, favoring a blood relative over all the kindness she'd shown them over the years.
