After her rebirth

"But Dad, you might not be able to leave Luminous City right now. Aren't the cops still investigating you?"

Clara's reminder brought Oliver back to why he'd been stuck at home for the past few days, casting a shadow over his face.

"Alright, Clara, you head to Starhaven and find Katniss. Tell her to get back to

Luminous City! I'll deal with Dylan."

This was the best plan Oliver could come up with after some thought.

"Are you sure, Dad?" Clara asked hesitantly, though her tears had stopped.

"Absolutely! Don't worry, Starhaven isn't like Luminous City with the Hamilton family. Katniss has no support in Starhaven. I know people there who can help you."

Clara's eyes lit up at his words.

She had thought Oliver would only try to persuade her two brothers to let her leave Luminous City. She hadn't expected that Oliver had connections in Starhaven.

Once she got to Starhaven, dealing with Katniss would be a piece of cake!

Indeed, coming to Oliver with her sob story had paid off.

Having achieved her goal, Clara didn't linger in Oliver's room for long.

Before leaving, she made sure to say tearfully, "Dad, I'll leave Dylan to you. Otherwise, they won't let me leave the house."

Oliver readily agreed. Ever since he found out that Katniss was responsible for what happened to Laura, he had been seething with hatred.

Thinking about how Laura had hurt him, albeit in her madness, made his heart ache.

After Clara left, Oliver couldn't resist the urge to go to the hospital to see Laura.

But when he asked the nurse, he found out Laura was no longer there.

"Where did she go?" Oliver demanded loudly.

The nurse, startled, looked at him in confusion. "She was sent to a psychiatric hospital.

She's lost her mind and has no family, so that's the only place she could go."

Oliver's heart ached. He asked which psychiatric hospital and rushed there immediately.

When he arrived, he found Laura.

She was curled up quietly in the corner of her bed, her head down, looking harmless and pitiful.

He called out softly, "Laura," but got no response. He took a step closer, but still, there was no reaction.

Someone behind him said, "She's been like this since she was brought in. No response, just dazed and vacant."

"Has she shown any other reactions? Is there any chance she could recover?" Oliver asked.noveldrama

The person shook their head. "I only work part-time here, so I'm not sure about her condition. You should ask the doctor."

Oliver asked, "I'm her family. Can I take her out of here?"

The person replied, "Ask the doctor. I don't know, but it should be possible."

Frustrated by the lack of information, Oliver said, "You can go. I'll talk to her for a bit."

The person left without another word, leaving Oliver and Laura alone in the small

room.

Laura hadn't moved at all. It was as if she hadn't heard any of their conversation.

Oliver closed the door and approached Laura. "Laura?"

She didn't respond. He reached out and gently lifted her head.

"Laura, it's me. Are you awake?" Oliver held her face, speaking softly.

Laura's unfocused eyes looked confused at first, but when she recognized him, she suddenly became agitated.

Laura bit down hard on Oliver's nose, pulling back as if trying to tear it off.

Oliver's face contorted in pain. He screamed and tried to push her away, but she wouldn't let go.

Blood gushed from his nose, pouring down his face.

Hearing his screams, people outside started banging on the door. It took a while before someone unlocked it.

When the door opened, everyone was shocked.

Oliver had passed out, his nose completely bitten off, his face covered in blood.

Laura was chewing on something, her expression fierce.

A group of people hurriedly took Oliver to the hospital. They retrieved pieces of his nose from Laura's mouth, but it was too mangled to reattach.

Lucas and Dylan rushed to the hospital. When they learned that Laura had bitten off Oliver's nose, they were both shocked and confused.

Clara also arrived, wearing a mask and hat to avoid being recognized.

"Lucas, Dylan, what happened to Dad?" Clara hadn't expected Oliver to be hospitalized so suddenly.

She had just spoken to him, and he had promised to persuade her brothers.

"Dad was hurt by Laura," Dylan, who had arrived first, explained.

"Why did he go see Laura again? She already hurt him last time." Lucas was already stressed with company issues and was even more frustrated to hear that Oliver had gone to see Laura again.

Clara lowered her head uneasily.

The two brothers didn't notice her discomfort. Dylan, concerned, said, "Clara, don't worry. Your situation isn't resolved yet. You should go home."

He was worried Clara might be recognized. The Manners family had already been the subject of enough gossip; they didn't need more.

Clara's face was pale, and she was reluctant to leave.

She feared Oliver might say something after surgery. She didn't want her brothers to know that Oliver had gone to see Laura because of what she had said.

Moreover, she hadn't expected Oliver to go see Laura after she mentioned Katniss's involvement.

She couldn't understand Oliver's actions. Did he think his so-called true love could cure Laura's madness?

"Dylan, I'm worried about Dad. Let me stay here," Clara said weakly, leaning against the wall.

Dylan sighed, "Alright, Clara. If you feel unwell, let us know."

The three of them waited outside. Lucas, still dealing with company issues, continued

to review documents even while waiting.

The company had been facing numerous problems, and he couldn't afford to put work aside, even now.
