Chapter 820 Hitting Theodore's Sore Spot
Phoebe's genuine concern for him was completely misunderstood, which made her a
bit angry.
She frowned at him, "Can you stop thinking I'm always plotting something? Can't I just be genuinely concerned about you?"
"Concerned about me?" Theodore sneered, "You don't have to pretend. I don't need your pity, and I'm not going to target your company."
Phoebe pressed her lips together. She took a deep breath and softly said, "Have you gone to the hospital? Don't let a minor illness drag on."
"No need to trouble yourself, Ms. Ziegler. Lawton, drive." Theodore turned his head and rolled up the car window.
Looking at his indifferent profile, Phoebe had a feeling that if she let him leave like this, she might never see him again.
She wanted to recklessly open the car door and get in, but in the end, she stood still, watching the car slowly drive away.
They should have clarified their relationship long ago. Now, with Hubert, Boris, and Noomi, it was even more impossible for her to have any connection with him.
In the car, Lawton glanced at the rearview mirror and saw Phoebe still standing at the company entrance. He then looked at Theodore, who was pretending to nap in the back seat.
Theodore had come all this way, only to end things?
"Mr. Reynolds, should we go to the hospital?"
Theodore opened his eyes, looking weary, "Back to the estate."
In the afternoon, Taylor had called him, insisting he come home tonight because Madison was bringing her boyfriend over for dinner. Theodore agreed to go.
Lawton noticed his hoarse voice, which was worse than in the morning. He suggested, "Mr. Reynolds, how about we stop by the hospital on the way to get some medicine?"
"No need, I won't die." Theodore closed his eyes again.
Seeing his attitude, Lawton knew he wouldn't go to the hospital today, so he kept quiet and focused on driving.
The Maybach drove into the estate as night fell, and the lights illuminated the grounds. The car stopped in front of the fountain, and Lawton looked at the back seat, "Mr. Reynolds, we're here."
Theodore didn't respond at first, as if he were asleep. Lawton called out a few more times before Theodore seemed to snap out of a nightmare and sat up straight.
He glanced outside, rubbed his eyes, and said, "You don't need to wait for me. You can go home."
This meant he was staying at the estate tonight. Lawton quickly got out to open the car door. After Theodore entered the villa, Lawton drove away.
At the door, Theodore straightened his clothes and rubbed his face to look more alert before pushing the door open.
Several people were sitting in the living room, and the atmosphere was a bit strange. His severe cold had dulled his senses, and it wasn't until he entered that he noticed Edward sitting on the sofa.
Theodore gave Edward a cold look and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Madison, holding Edward's arm affectionately, said sweetly, "Theodore, let me formally introduce you. Edward is now my boyfriend. Don't be so hostile towards him."
With that, the expressions of everyone in the living room changed, all eyes on Theodore.noveldrama
Theodore thought his cold was causing him to hallucinate. He stared at Madison, "What did you just say?"

Madison, thinking Theodore was deliberately trying to embarrass Edward, was unhappy, "Theodore, you heard me. Why make me repeat it?"
Theodore had been in a foul mood for days. His gaze fell on Edward, and he sneered, "Mr. Vanderbilt, after failing to propose, you immediately got together with Madison. What's your motive?"
This remark was like tearing off the facade, making Madison's face change drastically. She felt Theodore was not only embarrassing Edward but also her.
Edward had just proposed to Phoebe in front of the whole city, and now he was with Madison.
Everyone had been discreet about this relationship, but Theodore's comment exposed it, causing embarrassment.
"Theodore!"
"If you still consider me your brother, you wouldn't be with him," Theodore said sternly.
Madison's face turned red. She looked down at Edward, who stood up and faced Theodore, "Since Mr. Reynolds doesn't welcome me, I'll come another day."
"Edward." Madison quickly grabbed his hand, "Don't go. Theodore, how can you do this? Edward is with me now. How can you break us up?"
Theodore looked at her coldly. Madison pleaded, and he finally relented, saying, "Mr. Edward, could we speak privately?"
He then turned and walked out of the villa.
Madison didn't know what Theodore wanted to discuss with Edward. She was worried and looked at Edward nervously, "Edward, no matter what Theodore says, don't listen to him."

Edward patted her hand reassuringly and turned to leave.
In the corridor, Theodore stood with a cigarette between his fingers. Edward walked up
to him, noticing his troubled expression, and smirked.
"Got a cigarette for me?"
Theodore glanced at him and tossed the pack over. Edward lit a cigarette and slowly exhaled a puff of smoke, "After Phoebe rejected my proposal, I thought you would be the one to win her back with your energy and determination. But it seems you haven't succeeded either."
Theodore stared into the dark night, the cigarette smoke curling around his fingers. He said, "So you knew about her triplets all along."
"Yes, I knew," Edward admitted readily. "Knowing she had triplets was a blow, but I still didn't want to give up on her."
Theodore didn't follow his line of thought. He turned to Edward, "If that's the case, why are you with Madison? What's your motive?"
"What motive could I have?" Edward laughed, "True, I don't love Madison now, but that doesn't mean I wasn't moved by her feelings for me. Love grows over time. I believe one day, I'll let go of Phoebe and genuinely like her."
Theodore frowned at him. He never understood Edward. Everyone thought he was gentle and refined, but Theodore believed there was a heart more dangerous than a serpent beneath that facade.
Madison was no match for him.
"Do you think I'll believe you?" Theodore sneered. Could Edward really let go of Phoebe? He doubted it.
Edward shrugged. "Mr. Reynolds, it seems the triplets really get under your skin. Understandably so. She chose to have children with a stranger rather than stay with you. That must be a huge hit to your pride."
Edward's words hit Theodore's sore spot, and his face immediately darkened.
What do you think?
