Forbidden Passion

Chapter 821 Using a Borrowed Knife

Edward was right. Theodore couldn't accept this. Back then, she went on a hunger strike to force him to agree to a divorce. He agreed, and then she went off to find another man out of loneliness.

His pride would never allow him to accept this, nor the consequences that came with

it.

Now, being pointed out by Edward without any scruples, he retorted, "She'd rather find a stranger than reconcile with you. How much better are you than me?"

Edward's face darkened. He knew very well who Phoebe had slept with that night three years ago, but he wouldn't tell Theodore. Instead, he wanted to drive a wedge between them.

His hope was that this would cause Theodore and Phoebe to never speak to each other again.

"It seems you've figured it out and are ready to be a dad to the triplets. In that case, congratulations to you and Phoebe," Edward mocked.

Theodore turned and walked away.

Not long after, Madison came out of the villa and saw Edward smoking on the porch. She quickly walked over and affectionately took his arm. "Edward, Theodore didn't give you a hard time, did he?"

"Of course not," Edward said, recalling Theodore's expression with particular satisfaction. He glanced at Madison, and a devious plan immediately formed in his mind.

To stop Theodore from going to Phoebe, he had to let the entire Reynolds family know that Phoebe had given birth to triplets with another man.

And naturally, this couldn't come from his mouth. He had the perfect candidate right in front of him.

Madison leaned her head on Edward's shoulder, smiling sweetly. "As long as Theodore is okay with us being together, no one else in the family will have a problem."

This statement clearly indicated that Theodore was now the head of the Reynolds family.

Edward lowered his eyes slightly, a hint of malice flashing through them. He said calmly, "It's okay, we have plenty of time. No need to rush."

"But I'm in a hurry," Madison immediately stood up straight and looked at Edward. "Edward, I've had a crush on you for so many years. I want to be your wife and spend my life with you."

Edward resisted the urge to push her away, his tone still cold. "No rush."

Madison bit her lip, thinking that Theodore must have said something to Edward. She knew Theodore was an obstacle to her happiness.

Feeling resentful, her words became harsher. "Why does Theodore care about my business? He can't handle Phoebe himself, so he wants everyone else to stay single with him."

Edward noticed her resentment towards Theodore and patted her hand. "Don't be too hard on Theodore. He's just looking out for you. After all, I did just propose to Phoebe and it didn't work out. It's natural for him to be concerned about us getting together so soon."

The more Edward spoke for Theodore, the more uneasy Madison felt, fearing that Edward might regret being with her after calming down.

Feelings couldn't be cultivated quickly, but marriage could happen fast. As long as she married Edward, she could keep him tied to her.

Madison had her own plans and became increasingly dissatisfied with Theodore. She let go of Edward and sat on the stone porch, sulking.

"You're not in a hurry at all."

Edward wanted Madison to be anxious. He extinguished his cigarette, squatted in front

of her, and looked up at her with rare tenderness.

"Madison, do you know why I proposed to Phoebe?"

Madison didn't want to hear Edward say Phoebe's name. The way he spoke it so intimately made her very jealous.

She asked, "Why?"

Edward sighed and said, "This was originally Phoebe's secret. I shouldn't say it, but since we're going to get married, I don't want you to think there's anything between me and her and feel uncomfortable."

Hearing this, Madison immediately smiled. "I never doubted you. But you mentioned Phoebe's secret. What secret?"

Seeing her curiosity, Edward hesitated. "Forget it, it's her private matter. I shouldn't tell you."

Madison wasn't very interested at first, but seeing Edward's hesitation, her curiosity was piqued. She pestered Edward.

Seeing that the time was right, Edward reluctantly said, "Madison, promise me you won't tell anyone. I'm afraid Phoebe will blame me."

Madison bit her lip. Edward was still afraid of Phoebe blaming him. It seemed Edward hadn't completely forgotten Phoebe. No, she had to know this secret. It would be bestnoveldrama

if she could use it to keep Phoebe away from Edward.

"Tell me, I promise I won't say anything. Trust me."

Edward's lips curled up slightly. He leaned in and whispered a few words in Madison's ear. Madison's eyes widened in shock. "Really?"

"Really."

Madison couldn't believe that Phoebe was so promiscuous. She had fought so hard to divorce Theodore, only to sleep with a stranger afterward.

She was such a slut!

Theodore definitely didn't know about this, nor did he know that Phoebe had given birth to children.

No, she had to let Theodore know.

Edward saw Madison's eyes darting around and knew she was up to something. He stood up and said, "Madison, it seems today isn't the right time to talk about our marriage. I'll come back another day."

Madison was so focused on exposing Phoebe that she didn't pay attention to what Edward said. It wasn't until he drove away that she realized she had brought him home to discuss their marriage with her family.

She angrily watched the taillights disappear down the road and stomped her foot in frustration.

Riley came out to call them in for dinner and saw Madison tugging at the potted plants. She quickly walked over. "Madison, you're going to damage the plants. Where's Mr. Vanderbilt?"

"He said our family doesn't welcome him, so he left," Madison said angrily.

Riley's expression was unreadable. "Mr. Vanderbilt has that kind of personality. Never mind, come in for dinner. Everyone's waiting for you."

Ever since Grace was brought back, everyone was afraid Madison would feel left out, so they treated her even better than before, fearing she would feel wronged.

So, even if they neglected Grace, they wouldn't neglect Madison. Madison walked into the villa sullenly. Everyone was already seated in the dining room, waiting for her. When they saw her come in alone, Taylor asked, "Where's Edward? Why did he leave?"

Taylor didn't have much of an opinion about Edward. He was a good person, just too stubborn. He had waited for Phoebe for so many years and even proposed to her in front of the whole city.

But then he turned around and got together with Madison. It seemed absurd to her. Madison, feeling resentful, sat down next to Grace and said sarcastically, "No one welcomes him. Why should he stay?"

"Madison, what's gotten into you?" Christopher glared at her, looking very displeased. Madison immediately felt wronged and sad. She shouted, "I know, none of you like me or Edward. You're all just waiting for Phoebe to come back into this family. Let me tell you, she's not as simple as you think."
