Not Your Doormat Anymore

Chapter 69

When Rachel heard what I said, she could no longer control her expression. She wasn't able to squeeze out a smile either as she looked at me in surprise.

"Mr. Ranford, are you mistaken? What does this have to do with me?"

I looked at her coldly. "You're their team leader."

"Yes, that's right, but I've never handed my tasks to other people. Mr. Ranford-"

"As the team leader, you're also responsible for supervising your team members. Do you dare to say that you had no idea what they were doing?"

Rachel lowered her head. "I have to handle many tasks on a daily basis. I can't keep tabs on an intern all the time."

Her attitude was completely different from when she was at the cafeteria at noon. If she hadn't indulged or even encouraged this behavior, things would never have escalated to this point.

"I'll consider it a failure of supervision. One month of your bonus will be deducted."

As there wasn't any other evidence on hand and Kourtney still needed to come to work in the future, I decided to be lenient.

Although Rachel was displeased, she didn't dare to say anything in front of me. She only lowered her head and agreed.

When I returned to the office, Mira glanced at me a few times, hesitating to say something. I raised my head and looked at her. "What is it?"

Mira sighed. "To be honest, I think you were too impulsive today."

I raised my eyebrows. Mira took a deep breath and mustered up her courage. "This matter can't be solved this way..."

At this time, Lindsey entered, and Mira immediately stopped talking. Lindsey didn't seem to have heard what Mira had said. She only tapped on the rest of the documents.

"These are all the documents that need to be handled today. Mr. Ranford, let's continue."

Lindsey had explained to me a few basic things in the morning, so although I still hadn't gotten used to it, my efficiency was higher than it was in the morning. Nonetheless, because there were many documents, by the time I was done with them, it was already half an hour past office hours.

"You've worked hard, Mr. Ranford. You may clock out now."

Lindsey had been with me the entire time, working overtime together, but she didn't complain at all. I nodded at Lindsey and Mira and was about to leave. When I reached the door, I remembered I didn't take my blazer, so went back. I just happened to overhear their conversation.

"Mr. Ranford has just joined the company, after all. It's normal for him to be unfamiliar with how things work. But as for what happened today, he wasn't wrong."

Lindsey looked at Mira calmly. "They dragged those under-the-table unspoken rules into the open in front of the boss. Mr. Ranford went easy on them by not firing them right away.

"Normally, something this minor wouldn't even make it to the boss'

desk, but once the boss does get involved, it's rarely as simple as today Just wait. The head of the

marketing department will probably show up tomorrow."

Mira seemed to understand, but she still appeared a bit confused. When Lindsey saw me, she handed me the blazer on her arm. "You forgot to take your blazer, right? Be careful on your way back."

I nodded and stepped out of the office with my blazer. As I was a bit late, Kourtney had already made dinner when I arrived home.noveldrama

As usual, she was sitting in the living room, waiting for me. Upon seeing me, she

got up and opened her mouth before pursing her lips and lowering her gaze.

"What's wrong?"

I pulled the chair and sat down, confused with her attitude.

Kourtney shook her head and said, "Thank you for today."

"With our relationship, what's with the thanks?"

I chuckled. "But seriously, why didn't you tell me about this? How long were you

going to let them push you around at work?"
