Chapter 871
Back in the day, I was such a bookworm, completely lost in my academic world. Kelly's teasing just flew right over my head. I never imagined she'd actually push for our families to set up a marriage between us. When your dad found out, he freaked out and pulled out all the stops to block the marriage between us and Kelly.
At first, I thought he might have had a thing for Kelly himself. But then, it hit me- his real goal was to prevent the Stewart and McCoy families from teaming up. If we combined forces, it would've left the Rowland family out in the cold in the
business game.
Fate had other plans, though. When I hit college, I fell hard and fast for Vivian's mom the moment I laid eyes on her. When Kelly got wind of my romance with Flora, she was understandably upset but took it like a champ. She gave me a reassuring pat and said, 'Since you've found someone who truly loves you back, I'm stepping aside.'
That night, Kelly had quite a bit to drink, and your dad was showering her with attention. What exactly went down is still a mystery, but the very next day, Kelly announced she and your dad were an item.
The whole situation left Jules and me on edge. Poor Jules had been carrying a torch for Kelly for so long. In the end, Kelly chose a guy she wasn't really in love with. Jules kicked himself for not confessing his feelings sooner. He always seemed to be just one beat behind in chasing after Kelly.
After my accident, I lost track of what went down between the three of them. By the time I came to three years ago, everything had changed.
Lincoln's eyes turned icy as he glared at Morris, "Everyone's saying Kelly jumped because your dad betrayed her. Is that true?"
Morris's hands curled into tight fists, anger washing over him.
Turns out, his parents didn't marry out of love. His dad had used some shady tricks to win his mom over, only to take her for granted.
"I have no idea why she jumped," Morris admitted, the pain evident in his voice.
His mom's death was a closely guarded secret by both the McCoy and Rowland families. Even as her son, Morris couldn't find any trace of her story online. He still didn't know what really happened back then.
Lincoln sneered, "Kelly was always so upbeat and bright. If your dad hadn't pushed her so hard, she'd never have taken such a drastic step."
Morris's body shook slightly. Could his dad really have mistreated his mom?
Lincoln, ignoring Morris's turmoil, continued to vent his anger, "Nathan, no wonder I can't stand you. You'renoveldrama
his son, carrying the same flawed blood. I truly look down on his kids."
Morris's eyes flew open...
Upstairs, Nathalie had overheard her dad talking about Kelly's past and saw his hostile behavior towards Morris. She dashed downstairs and wrapped her arms around the trembling Morris.
She yelled at Lincoln, "Dad, do you know what you're doing?"
Lincoln, still caught up in the past, snapped, "Vivian, let him go. He's that man's
son. I don't want to see him."
Nathalie fired back, "Dad, his last name isn't Yates, it's Simmons."
"He's a Rowland, sure, but he's also Kelly's son."
What do you think?
