Chapter 1196
Chapter 1196:
“I’m going to confront Jacob! That bastard! I risked my life giving birth to his son. How dare he lie to me?” Phoebe said, her frustration clear.
As Phoebe saw Eileen blocking the door, she thought for a moment and then added, “You need to go with me.”
Eileen stepped aside immediately. “I just wanted to remind you that Jacob isn’t here. It’s too soon for you to be rolling up your sleeves.”noveldrama
She knew that if she got involved in the couple’s fight, she would end up being blamed when they reconciled. She decided not to get involved.
Phoebe immediately understood Eileen. “How can you be like this? We’re close friends. Aren’t you going to help me?”
“How can I help?” Eileen replied, “I’m not as good at handling these situations as you think.”
“Confrontations as you are, I have suggestions, but you don’t listen to them,” Eileen replied.
“Then let me hear them. I’ll decide whether to take your advice or not,” Phoebe said, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow at Eileen.
Eileen thought for a moment and then said, “You don’t have any proof right now, so you have nothing to confront him with. You need to gather some evidence first!”
Phoebe turned back, sat down, and said, “What you said makes sense. Let’s go confront him the day after tomorrow.”
Eileen found herself dragged into the mess again. Phoebe’s firm gaze locked onto Eileen, as if daring her to refuse. It seemed like Phoebe was ready to cause a scene at the EB Group if Eileen declined.

“Okay, I’ll go with you, but promise me you won’t act impulsively. It might just be a classmate gathering. I’ll ask Bryan about it when I get home,” Eileen said.
“Don’t ask too many questions,” Phoebe replied. “If you ask too much, Bryan will get suspicious. What if he tells Jacob? Men can’t be trusted!” Eileen thought to herself, unsure if Jacob was truly untrustworthy, but one thing was certain—Bryan was a good man.
Phoebe’s suspicion had put her in a foul mood, and she lingered in Eileen’s office all day. As Eileen worked, Phoebe couldn’t resist venting about men. “I married before you, but you and Bryan have been together longer than Jacob and I. Why is the relationship between you two still so good?” Phoebe asked, bringing the subject to Eileen’s relationship.
Eileen replied, “It’s about having less doubt, less impulse, more reason, and more trust.”
Phoebe wasn’t convinced. She rolled her eyes and said, “Let me tell you. There’s no man who doesn’t cheat. They’ll always get tired of their wives and want to try something new, no matter how beautiful their wives are.”
Eileen raised an eyebrow, and memories of Bryan being intimate with her flashed through her mind. Bryan surely wasn’t “tired” of her.
“I admire your confidence,” Phoebe said. “I want to mock you when you cry, but definitely bring this up again.” Phoebe slammed her hand on the desk.
Eileen looked away, focusing on her work, and simply replied, “Okay.”
That evening, Eileen felt a lingering unease when she returned home, perhaps because she was now hiding a secret for Phoebe. Eileen avoided Bryan as much as she could, fearing he might discover the secret.
For two days, she acted stealthily, like a thief. The day of the supposed classmate gathering arrived, and Bryan left early, saying he had a meeting to attend.
