Chapter 521 Brooding
Even though there's still a lot of unresolved tension between Mr. Nathaniel and his wife, it's important to acknowledge that the president has made considerable efforts to address past grievances.
All I'm asking now is for Mrs. Morgan to extend a measure of compassion toward Mr. Nathaniel, even if it's just a small gesture.
The situation has reached a critical point: Mr. Nathaniel has been drinking heavily in the Red Shift. If this continues tonight, it could lead to dire consequences, either fatal or severely injurious.
I really hope Mrs. Morgan can come to the Red Shift to see the president. A face- to-face conversation could be the key to resolving their issues. Isn't most conflict solvable through a heartfelt discussion?
Freya hesitated, aware that although she wanted to speak with Nathaniel, his current state of fury made it nearly impossible to approach him.
Sensing Freya's reluctance, Ozzy pressed on, "Let's be honest, if it weren't for Mr. Nathaniel risking his life to save you during that perilous sea voyage, you might have already met a far worse fate. It's worth considering that he has done so much for you."
"Mr. Nathaniel had just undergone surgery when he rushed to Pontenero to save you. His wound hasn't healed properly, and his bandages are still soaked with blood. "
"Despite his injury, he drove all night to Ravenwood to ensure Luna was imprisoned, and he didn't even mention it to you."
"Just because he kept quiet about it doesn't mean his efforts weren't significant. Considering the life-saving grace he has shown, can you please offer Mr. Nathaniel some support this time? Without your intervention, he might not be able to continue much longer."noveldrama
Freya frowned, sensing a hint of sarcasm in Ozzy's tone.
"Alright, I understand."
Ozzy wanted to keep the conversation going, but Freya had already ended the call. Frustrated yet resigned, Ozzy acknowledged that he had done everything he could, given the complexities of their relationship.
In the private room, Nathaniel had already downed three glasses of alcohol when Koen stepped in, swiftly taking the glass from his hand.
"Mr. Nathaniel, let's shake things up a bit. How about some music? Come on, everyone, start singing! Don't just stand around letting our guests drink alone!"
The young women, initially daunted by Nathaniel's imposing presence, sprang into action at Koen's
insistence. Some began singing net
others took to dancing, and a few bold ones poured the alcohobfrom Nathaniel's glass into their own. The atmosphere quickly transformed into a lively spectacle of lights, music, and exuberant celebration.
Two girls sidled up to Nathaniel, who, though visibly irritated, didn't push them away. One of the bolder girls draped her arm around his neck, attempting to steal a sip while he was intoxicated.
Koen's objective was clear: getting Mr. Nathanjel to stop drinking was the top priority. The challenge was significant, given that their previous role had been to encourage heavy drinking for tips, but now they faced the urgent task of safeguarding his well-being.
Koen's assistant had made it explicit: if Mr. Nathaniel collapsed from drinking in this room, everyone would face serious consequences.
Despite the girls' best efforts to distract and deter him, Nathaniel kept drinking. His eyes grew heavy, his condition worsened, and the combination of alcohol and his deteriorating health left him with a painful chest and laboured breathing.
As Nathaniel sat there, his mind wandered to Freya's suffering during her time in prison and the night they lost their child. He recalled the small comfort he found in Sawyer, who had been there for Freya, offering a glimmer of hope in an otherwise bleak time.
The thought of Freya enduring such pain and her enduring strength made his own discomfort seem somewhat diminished. The alcohol, though providing momentary escape, was not a solution.
He reached for another bottle, pouring pineapple juice into his glass. Koen, determined to stop any more drinking, moved to intercept the glass, prepared to wrest it away if necessary.
But before Koen could act, a hand pressed firmly on Nathaniel's glass. He frowned and snapped, "Get lost!"
Yet the hand remained resolute.
Through his blurred vision, Nathaniel
looked up and was stunned into
silence as he saw Freya's face. For a fleeting moment, his anger and confusion gave way to an unexpected sense of recognition and relief, leaving him momentarily speechless.
What do you think?
