The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha

Walking around the council underground, Alexandra glances around the room where the ceremony was going to take place in hours. Averting her eyes from the ring to the stairs imagines Nathaniel sitting in one of those seats cheering at her, a smile creeps on her lips and she pushes it away, without a doubt that he wasn't coming.

He didn't know about the ceremony and there was no way he could come, Alexandra on her part hasn't invited him. Nathaniel would be in his pack probably doing what he loves to do best.

"Is alright Alexandra, get him out your head and focus" she mutters under her breath, breathes in the warm breeze, exhales, closing her eyes for a moment. She opens back her eyes and turns around, jumping as she catches sight of Nathaniel standing by the entrance gawking at her.

"I wasn't thinking about you so you didn't have to come" She states thinking it was an image created by her mind.

Dropping his gaze, Nathaniel looks around the large room.

"Fancy room"

"Is for the ceremony now go before people think I'm going crazy"

"Why would they think so?"

Alexandra raises her brow, confused. "What do you mean why will they think so"

"I didn't tell you to come remember and for now I blocked my mind from thinking about you so you have no reason to be here"

"I don't understand"

"What don't you understand when you told me yourself if I don't want you to appear I should stop thinking about you"

"I never told you anything of such"

Startled, Alexandra takes a step backward. "What do you mean you never-" she chokes on her word realizing she was staring down at Nathaniel himself.

"Nathaniel is that you?"

"In the flesh" He takes a step forward and she takes a step backward, her muscles weaken.

"What's wrong Alexandra? Have you been thinking about me?"

"I have not" she states hating to not have recognized him.

"Have you seen my face on other people's faces?"

"Stop it" she bites her lower lips

"Stop what? You are the one who called me here"

"I didn't"

"You did"

"I did no such thing. Why will I call you here?"noveldrama

"Because you missed me and desperately wanted to see me"

Alexandra rolls her eyes. "Don't get ahead of yourself I didn't miss you"

"Really?"

"Yes"

"So if I kiss you, you won't kiss me back with fervor because you haven't seen me in days"

A strange feeling engulfs her body and Alexandra's adrenaline rushes up. "Fine, you've figured that out, I missed you. I missed you so desperately that I wanted to see you, there you have it now what's your point?"

Nathaniel smiles. "Did you miss me?"

"Yes I did" she states with a hint of sincerity "I missed you so much that I wished I could see you even if it was from afar"

"I'm not that sort of man"

"What sort of man?" She bites gently on her lower lips.

"The sort of man you admire from afar. If you want me then you earn me"

"How am I supposed to do?"

"You're complicated Alexandra"

"Complication is kinda my thing"

"Do you want to earn me?"

"Yes," she takes a step towards him, closing up the space between them. "Really?"

"Yes I want to do that" she bites at her lips again, licking it

"Then you can start by not doing that except of course you want me to kiss you here and now. Then I may not be able to control myself"

Staring into his eyes, Alexandra could feel his heartbeat and she was aware that he could hear hers as well.

"Earn me" he whispers, holding her hand and gently placing it on his hard chest. "What are you doing?"

"Can you hear that?" Alexandra glances around, she couldn't deny the fact that she could hear him.

"No"

"Don't mess around with me" He states sternly

"Fine I can hear it, the thumping beat of your heart is beautiful"

"It's wounded"

Without hesitation, Alexandra slips her hand away. "Is that why you are here?"

"You know why is wounded right"

"Don't torture me, I already have enough problems as it is"

"I'm not torturing you, is your conscience tormenting you"

Dropping her gaze on him, looks at her feet, overwhelmed with guilt.

"Fine I did something wrong"

"Is that all you have to say"

"I'm not good at this" she runs her hand through her hair

"Why?"

"I never want to apologize, to try again"

"I'm your mate"

"That's what it even harder" Tears crowd her eyes.

"Hey what's wrong?" Nathaniel closes the space between them but Alexandra steps back.

"I don't want to try again because ..." she pauses

Curiously he asked. "Because what?"

"Because I'm never good at this, at least not anymore"

"You are never good at what?"

"Apologizing to you when I'm in the in the

"I don't know it just so happens and you know the hardest part"

"What is it?"

"I feel like shit afterward"

"Like the other day"

"All I want to do is to run and tell you what's in my head but I can't and is not my

ego or anything"

"Then what is it?"

"Maybe is the fact that you are my mate"

"Are you disgusted by me?"

"Of course not, I would never be. You have no idea, how much... how much I want you to continue to be my mate. I can never be disgusted by you Nathaniel"

He smiles taking a step closer and she takes a step backward, her back hitting the wall.

"I love when you say my name"

"Please stop Nathaniel" she whispers "Stop what?"

"Stop making me feel this way"

"What way?"

"Feeling of attachment towards your mate, I don't want it"

"Why?" Leaning towards her ear he ask and Alexandra holds the urge to push him back and get away, the closeness was tormenting her, igniting a strong feeling and she didn't want that, since she needed to focus on the ceremony around the corner. Although she was glad he came around.

"I don't want it and I have to focus on the Alpha election ceremony" "Good because I didn't come for you" He states frowning, feigning to be angry.

"Who did you come for then? Is it Olivia?" She blurts

Nathaniel glares at her. "What sort of question is that?"

"I'm sorry, I just have a lot in my head"

"With the ceremony"

"Yea" she smiles but it didn't reach her eyes

"You will do great, I'm glad you are participating"

"How did you know about the ceremony?"

"Guerrero's pack isn't so far from Crimson clan but then a certain someone

wouldn't know that since she is adamant about not visiting"

Alexandra rolls her eyes. "Please Nathaniel not now. I already have a lot in my

head"

"I know and I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I'm just angry"

"Then why are you here?"

"Because I want to see you fight and I miss your face"

"Just my face?"

"I miss you but you won't let me kiss you"

"Now is not the time to talk about intimacy"

"Are you scared that I won't control myself"

Without thinking it through, Alexandra places her soft hand on his face. "Hey I

trust you, you can control yourself anywhere and anytime"

Hearing those words Nathaniel couldn't bring himself to speak, he wanted to just

be close to her.

"You trust me"

"Yes Nathaniel now step back before someone sees us" she chuckles

"I don't care"

"Well I do, this is my territory and I need to be preparing not to flirt around with

you"

"You weren't flirting but spending time with me"

"Whenever I spend time with you, I just want to keep spending" she gently drops

her hand on his chest, feeling the same urge, she gazes into his eyes and he

gazes back feeling the tension between them.

"Isn't that a good thing?"

"Is addictive and tormenting"

"I'm your mate, that's how is supposed to be"

"No is toxic or hasn't anyone told you"

"No one has and I don't agree"

"When you are not there I am thinking about you and when you are there is

worse, is as if I can't focus and my head keeps spinning around from thinking about you. Is driving me insane"

Nathaniel smiles, he felt the same way. "That's how the whole mate thing works especially when you've found your true mate"

"My true mate" she trails her eyes towards his lips and memories of their kiss run through her mind, she tenses up. "Can you step back a little?"

"Why?"

"I can't breathe, don't crowd me"

Nathaniel could tell she was lying. "I never intended for you to breathe, if anyone

is to suffocate you is me"

"Is that supposed to make me feel hot?"

"Did it?"

"No now move a little"

"Except you tell me the truth"

"What truth?"

"Why do you want me to step back?"

"Because having you close makes me feel an urge" "What sort of urge?"

"I don't know but I want to focus on this ceremony"

Leaning closer to her, Nathaniel runs his hand through her hair, gazing at her, a

concerned look on his face.

"Don't be scared if you can't take it anymore just leave"

"They will talk about it"

"People will always talk about you. What matters to me is your safety"

Alexandra takes in a sharp breath, she had not imagined Nathaniel to be worried

bout her.

"I'm worried if you can handle it all?"

"I can as long as you are here"

"I want you to be safe"

"I will be"

Trailing his index finger on her face, Nathaniel takes a step back and Alexandra

calms down, relieved.

"I... I have to go"

"Of course, I will miss you but I will be by your side in case you need me"

"I will always need you so please don't leave. Don't leave me, Nathaniel"

He smiles and she takes a step away, walking away, Alexandra turns towards him, unable to contain the glee on her face.

"Thank you"

"For what?"

"For everything but for starters, for being here next to me, worrying about my

safety, and more especially for being my mate"

"Alright"

Alexandra blinks her eyes, and a lot of emotions runs through them, there was a

lot she wanted to get off her chest.

"I have a lot to say to you and I just wish the words would fly out"

"You can tell me everything after the ceremony is over"

Nodding affirmatively, Alexandra walks away and Nathaniel stares at her till she

was out of sight.
