Mommy,We Got a Husband

Chapter 474 And I Won't Go Alone

"Who?" Ambrose quickly turned around and asked.

Then the man with the hat said, "Mr. Vale, it's me."

Ambrose quickly looked around, and Denny said, "Don't worry, Mr. Vale, no one saw me come, and no one followed me."

"Come in first." Ambrose hurriedly opened the door to let Denny in.

Once inside, Ambrose quickly drew all the curtains before turning on the light. Only then did Denny remove his hat.

"Denny, where have you been all this time?" Seeing Denny suddenly appear, Ambrose admitted he was startled.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Vale." Denny said, bowing deeply to Ambrose, looking very pained. "Who has been controlling you? Neil or Alaric?" Hearing Denny's apology, Ambrose asked, "Have you confessed everything?"

"No, I didn't say anything." Denny said firmly, "That day, as soon as I got off the car, I saw Neil. He said he wanted to talk to me. At first, I refused, but he was very insistent and took me away."

"He took me to dinner and tried various ways to interrogate me. He kept persuading me, saying you had done too many bad things and would eventually face retribution. He said I had a family and shouldn't die with you."

"He said if I pointed out that you killed Todd, they would give me credit and not pursue legal action against me."

Ambrose clearly didn't believe it and asked, "And then? Neil is such an impatient person. If you didn't say anything, how could he have the patience to hold out for so long?"

"I swear, Mr. Vale, I really didn't say anything." Denny, fearing Ambrose wouldn't believe him, quickly made a swearing gesture. "I swear on my family's lives, I really didn't say anything. If I betrayed you, Mr. Vale, let my whole family die!"

Denny had been by his side for quite some time, and Ambrose was well aware of his loyalty. Observing his demeanor, it didn't seem like he was lying.

Ambrose said, "Alright, get up."

Denny stood up from the ground, and Ambrose said, "Continue."

Denny continued, "I said I didn't know much, only that you and Todd didn't get along. Neil kept trying to persuade me when I remained silent. From his attitude, I guessed he didn't have any evidence."

"Otherwise, he wouldn't be working so hard to get a breakthrough from me. Then I firmly said I didn't know anything and that I was scared and wanted to leave Arizona and go back home."

"He agreed and even personally sent someone to take me back home. After that, I changed my phone number, fearing that contacting you would make him suspicious." After hearing Denny, Ambrose still found it a bit unbelievable and asked, "So after you went home, Neil didn't have anyone watching you?"

Denny said, "He did, and my phone was always monitored. At first, Neil's people contacted me frequently, but when they realized they couldn't get anything from me, they contacted me less. The last time was a call to warn me.

"They said they had found a decisive witness, and if that person confessed, you wouldn't escape punishment, and neither would I. They said if I confessed now, I could still make up for my mistakes. I didn't say anything, fearing he was bluffing. After that, they never contacted me again."

"I was panic, so I secretly came to Arizona. Only when I got here did I find out that Bill had been caught. Since he hadn't come out for so long, I felt he was unreliable. It turned out to be true. I secretly contacted my family, and they said the police had come looking for me. That must mean Bill confessed everything."

"Mr. Vale, if Bill confessed and Neil hasn't come to arrest you yet, he must be planning to use you for something. So, while you still have time, you should escape. I'll find a way to cover your escape. Once you're abroad, they won't be able to catch you."

Hearing this, Ambrose smiled and said, "I've already thought of everything you said, and you've fallen into their trap."

Denny was confused.

Ambrose said, "You've been under surveillance by the police the entire time, and now you've returned to Arizona. How could Neil possibly not know? They purposefully let you come to me, to tell me that I am at a dead end, so as to drive me to despair."

"What should we do?" Denny realized how foolish he had been. "Did I just put you in danger? Is this place already under police surveillance?"

"No," Ambrose remarked calmly as he settled onto the sofa. "They already see me as a sitting duck and deliberately allowed you to come to me; they wouldn't waste manpower on surveillance."

"But even if this place isn't monitored, if Bill confessed, they'll eventually come for you. Then you can't escape at that time." Denny was now panicking. "Since no one is watching, let's excape tonight. I'll find a car and take you to a safe place, then we'll figure out the next step..."

"No need," Ambrose responded with composed indifference. "If I flee tonight but fail to escape this Country A, I'll be forced to constantly hide. I detest this feeling of skulking about; it's dreadful."

When Ambrose was young, driven by desperation, he resorted to theft and subsequently found himself relentlessly pursued, forced to hide at every turn. He never wished to relive that life again.

"But if you don't run, what will you do?" Denny said anxiously. "Even if the chances of escaping are slim, not running means certain death."

"Of course, I'll escape, but not like this. I have a plan." Ambrose said firmly, "And I won't go alone."

Denny didn't understand, but before he could ask, Ambrose checked the time and said, "A guest will be coming here soon."

Denny also checked the time. It was almost midnight. He asked in surprise, "You have a guest this late?"

Ambrose said, "His name is Tommy. He's the assistant who came after you disappeared."

Denny asked worriedly, "Is he reliable?"

Ambrose said, "I don't know. He used to work at Nexus Innovations and was fired by Alaric. From his performance at Far East International, he seems to hate Alaric. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Besides, at this point, I have no choice but to trust him."noveldrama

Denny said, "Since he's coming, should I leave?"

"No need." Ambrose said, "You coming to me is what the police wanted, and it fits my plan. I'll pretend to fall for it. They want to catch me like a rat in a trap, but I'll use this to escape."

With a cold smile, Ambrose's eyes were full of contempt. "I've been tired of playing cat and mouse since I was ten!"
